摘要:
A spectrometer of new design is described, which makes easier the investigation of the far infrared spectra of either solids, liquids or gases. With this instrument a very high degree of resolution has been obtained and several substances have been studied from 30&mgr; to 180&mgr;. From 30&mgr; to 85&mgr; the effective slit‐width was 1.04&mgr;; from 85&mgr; to 122&mgr;, 1.67&mgr;; and from 122&mgr; to 180&mgr;, 2.59&mgr;.

摘要:
An extension of the DuBridge circuit is described which allows tubes of a fairly wide range of characteristics to be used. The application to the old type FP‐54 and to a tube obtained from the Bell Telephone Laboratories is described. A very stable direct‐current amplifier is also described which may be used independently for the measurement of currents of the order of 10−12amp. or in the output of an electrometer tube circuit.

摘要:
The paper describes anexactly reproduciblemethod of applying metallic coatings to the surfaces of solid specimens and of imbedding thermocouples precisely at any given depth in the coatings. The method makes possible the completeeliminationof the variable discontinuity of temperature which is always present, to a greater or less degree, in measurements of thermal conductivity, between the specimen and the metallic surfaces in contact with it.A new technicfor the stripping of fine silk‐covered wires is described.
