摘要:

Andrews (1972) introduced a method of plotting highdimensional data in two dimensions. This method is exploited as a graphical tool for the examination of changes over time in the parameters of a time series model. An example using a Fourier series model is given to illustrate the method. It is also shown how outlying observations in the data can be found.

Fisher's exact test for 2 × 2 frequency tables is presented in a new format which, we believe, is easier to use and which permits a substantial saving in tabulation-space of critical values. Tables are provided here for total frequency N ≤ 25. Tables for N ≤ 100 are obtainable on request to the author

In the 96 Anglo-Australian Test matches played from the end of world war II to the final test in the 1980 series there have been over 3000 dismissals of batsman for both countries. A breakdown reveals interesting difference between the type of dismissal and (a) quality of batsman, (b) location of match, (c) team which is batting. In particular, the ‘leg before wickets’ (lbw) dismissals appear to provide controversial data.

摘要:

A model for use in developing a recreation strategy is described. The model utilises the general concepts of category analysis in estimating demand for recreation. The procedure is illustrated by an analysis of the demand for active indoor sports and games in South Yorkshire. It is concluded that the methodology described might provide a useful instrument for regional recreational planning.

摘要:

A stochastic differential difference equation model is presented which simulates an outbreak of plague within a closed populatian. The data for this model are taken from that of Eyam, Derbyshire, England, which experienced such an outbreak following the Great Plague of Londan. The numerical results produced are campared with the available Eyam data, and with the corresponding results produced by the author (see (1)), using a deterministic differential equatian model.
