Members of the 16-membered macrolide antibiotic class show activity againstCryptosporidiumandToxoplasma gondii, which are associated with the acquired immune deficiency syndrome. Using carbomycin A as a substrate, we report a new semi-synthetic route for the production of forocidin.

摘要:
Three new steroidal alkaloids, epipachysamine-E-5-ene-4-one (1),Nb-demethylepipachysamine-E-5-ene-4-one (2) andiso-N-formylchonemorphine (3) have been isolated fromSarcococca brevifolia.Structures of these compounds were determined by spectroscopic studies. Compounds 1 and 3 exhibited strong antibacterial activity againstBacillus cereus, Escherichia coli, Staphylococcus aureus, Klebsiella pneumoniae, Proteus mirabilis, Corynebacterium diphtheriaeandPseudomonas aeruginosa.

摘要:
On further phytochemical investigation of the aerial parts ofVerbascum undulatum, a new iridoid glycoside, 6-O-[3-O-(trans-feruloyl)-α-L-rhamnopyranosyl] aucubin (1) and a new verbascoside derivative, 6-O-acetyl-martynoside (2) were isolated. These structures were determined by spectral methods, mainly by 1D and 2D NMR spectroscopy.

摘要:
Two new compounds, laipol and isolaipol, were isolated fromGlycosmis cf. cyanocarpa(Rutaceae). Their structures were determined by different spectroscopical techniques as (4R, 7′S)-(1′E, 3′E)- and (1′E, 3′Z)-4-(7-hydroxy-3-methylocta-1,3-dienyl)-3,5,5-trimethyl-2-cyclohexenone. the absolute configuration of laipol was determined by circular dichroism (4R) and the kinetic method of Horeau (7′S). This is the first report on degraded C-18 carotenes from higher plants.

摘要:
From the culture ofPseudomonassp. 267 obtained from the rhizosphere ofTriticumpseudobactin and pseudobactin A were isolated. These two compounds are the pyoverdins typical forPseudomonas fluorescens, which establishes the identity of the strain. In addition, two novel compounds were found in the cultural broth,viztwo 7-sulfonic acid derivatives of pseudobactin A. Their structure elucidation and biogenetic implications will be presented.

Inhibition of acetylcholinesterase (AChE) activity by 5 kinds of volatile α, β-unsaturated ketones was studied. Inhibition of AChE was measured by the colorimetric method. α-Ionone showed the strongest inhibition.
