摘要:
The antibacterial activity of seven labdane-type diterpenes is reported. Five were isolated from the resin of the plantCistus creticus, from which 13(E)-labd-13-ene, 8α-ol-15-yl malonic acid(5)1is a new natural product, while the two others were hemisynthetic derivatives.

A new tetranortriterpenoid nimbinolide [2], and the known biologically active compound isonimbinolide [3] have been obtained from photo-oxidation of nimbin [1]. The structures of compounds 2 and 3 were established by spectral methods and by comparision with isonimbinolide.

摘要:
Various compounds commonly found in plants have been screened using the λ-prophage induction assay. Certain polyphenolics have been found to directly interfere with the assay providing false positive results. Although the λ-prophage induction assay provides a useful prescreen for crude plant extracts, we have found that when employing this bioassay with plant extracts rich in certain compounds, a negative control assay should be employed.

摘要:
Three known alkaloids: lochnericine, 21-hydroxycyclolochnerine, and 19(S)-epimisiline (1), were isolated from hairy root cultures ofCatharanthus roseus.Their identification was carried out by analysis of their spectroscopic data. This is the first report of 19(S)-epimisiline as being produced by hairy root cultures of C.roseus.
