This article provides information on the standard reference materials prepared in co‐operation by the CMEA‐countries. Among the standards are materials of technological or geochemical importance ‐ silicates, carbonates, ores, etc. The article briefly mentions the technology of their preparation, homogeneity control, analyses evaluation and certification used for these materials. It surveys the finished and planned SRM's. The last table gives the names of foreign trade companies in the individual CMEA‐countries which are entrusted with the sale of the standard reference materials produced in that particular

Le Comité Inter‐Instituts présente quelques résultats nouveaux, obtenus sur la série d'étalons végétaux qu'il a constitué (12 éahantillons). Le sodium est déterminé par spectrométrie d'émission de flamme, le chlore par titrimétrie potentiométrique, le soufre pap turbidimétrie, le bore par colorimétrie à l'azométhine H.Les résultats donnés sont les moyennes de 8 à 15 laboratoires selon les éléments. L'éaart‐type et le coefficient de variation sont donnés pour chaque résultat. A method is presented fop estimation of the mode of analytical data reported by cooperating analysts in the preparation of reference materials. The method is referred to as the dominant cluster method, and the nodal value obtained is the value that shows most agreement between analysts.Several examples demonstrate that this mode (for which approximate confidence intervals have been estimated), is not inconsistent with the recommended values that have been assigned to well‐known geochemical reference samples. Silver content of silicate rook samples rarely exceeds 200 ppb. For determining such low levels of silver, a solid sampling flame atomic absorption method has been developed and has been applied to the analysis of several silicate rock reference samples. These results are compared with the sparse published data. Using silver as an example, the usefulness of solid sampling procedures for testing the repartition of volatile trace elements during the processing of new rock reference samples is illustrated.

Twenty‐four geochemical reference samples have been analysed far barium using the stable isotope dilution technique. These include five CRPG, ten ANRT, six Nimroc and two CCRMP samples together with the Tonalite from Tanzania, Duplicate analyses have been made in each case and our values for barium are believed to be accurate to approximately 3 %.
