摘要:
Studies of the effects of various natural larval diets on adult longevity of the elm spanworm,Ennomos subsignarius(Hübner), are reported. Adult males on all diets lived longer than adult females. No differences in longevity were found resulting from diets of either mockernut hickory and northern red oak, but diets of pignut hickory foliage increased adult longevity. The ability of the males to mate and remate and to disperse would be increased by larval feeding upon pignut hickory.

摘要:
Pecan weevils,Curculio caryae(Horn)2, were found deeper in cultivated soils than in undisturbed sites, within the foliage canopy of the tree. No pecan weevils were found in unshaded soil outside of the tree canopy. Male and female weevils were homogenous in their vertical distribution within the soil. The depths at which weevils were found were apparently deeper than necessary to escape inclement weather at the sites studied.
