摘要:
AbstractFrom bicyclo[2.2.2]octan‐2‐one (1) the β‐hydroxy ketones2‐13were prepared by aldol reaction with various aldehydes. Dehydration of the ketols furnished the corresponding enones14‐22. The odour properties of these bicyclic, rigid hydroxy ketones as well as of the enones are

摘要:
AbstractThe leaf essential oils of four members of the genusAustromyrtussens. lat. (three undescribed and one described species), theA. lasiocladagroup have been examined. All species produced oils in 0.1‐0.4% yields, based on fresh leaves. The oils were almost entirely sesquiterpenic in nature. InA. lasioclada(F. Muell.) L.S. Sm. the main compounds were δ‐cadinene (8‐14%) and germacrene‐D (4‐12%).A.. sp. (Blackall Range P.R. Sharpe 5387) gave an oil in which the main components were α‐copaene (12‐16%), β‐caryophyllene (4‐20%) andallo‐aromadendrene(3‐13%).Asp. (Upper Mudgeeraba Creek N.B. Byrnes +4069), also yielded an oil with α‐copaene (8‐15%), β‐caryophyllene (3‐8%) andallo‐aromadendrene(8‐14%) as the principal components. The last member of the group,A.sp. (Main Range P.R. Sharpe 4877) produced an oil in which the main components were spathulen

摘要:
AbstractMore than 160 constituents were identified in a commercial Boronia absolute. The main constituents are β‐ionone, (Z)‐heptadec‐8‐ene, 8‐hydroxylinalyl esters, methyl (Z,E)‐4‐(geranyloxy)cinnamates, methyl (Z,E)‐4‐(5‐hydroxygeranyloxy)cinnamates, N‐[2‐(4‐prenyloxyphenyl)ethyl]tiglamide and 3‐hydroxymegastigm‐7‐en‐9‐one, which are even recognizable in the 400 MHz1H

摘要:
AbstractIn Guadeloupe, three kinds of plants that have the botanical name ofPimenta racemosavar.racemosa(P.Miller) J. W. Moore (Myrtaceae) can be found. They differ from one another by the smell of their leaves: smells similar to those of clove, lemon and anise. An analysis of the essential oils of each type shows differences concerning their physical characteristics and their chemical compositions; in two chemotypes, major amounts of phenolic ethers (eugenol, chavicol, estragole, methyleugenol) were observed whereas the third one mainly contains acyclic oxygenated monoterpenes such as geranial and neral.

摘要:
AbstractThe essential oil from cloveSyzygium aromaticum(L.) Merr.&Perry exhibited significant antimicrobial activity against a collection of 25 different genera of test bacteria and 20 different isolates ofListeria monocytogenes. The oil was also tested against three fungal strains: a plant pathogen, a spoilage type and a mycotoxigenic strain. This resulted in high levels of growth inhibition at both concentrations of 1 and 10 μl ml−1growth medium. The essential oil was fed to mice in order to assess the antioxidant capacity, with particular reference to the protection of polyunsaturated fatty acids, in the liver and retina during agei

摘要:
AbstractAn analytical method for the determination of β‐plus β‐thujone in commercial alcoholic beverages is described. The thujones are potentially toxic compounds present in natural flavourings. The maximum content of the thujones in foodstuffs and beverages is established by laws in several countries. The determination of thujones was carried out by HPLC using an HS‐RP 18 (3 μm) (8.3 cm × 0.42 cm i.d.) column, and acetonitrile‐water (55:45) as mobile phase, flow rate 2 ml/min at 30°C.The fluorescent properties of β‐ and β‐thujone have been used for the detection at λex220 nm and λem290 nm. The selectivity of the fluorimetric detection allows the preparation of the analytical sample simply by diluting appropriately the alcoholic beverages in methanol. The method is precise and accurate and allows the determination of β‐ plus β‐thujone, without interference, at concentrations down to 0.5mg/kg. However, even if the fluorimetric detection provides good selectivity, when the concentrations of the thujones in a product exceed the permitted limits, the results should be confirmed by other me
