摘要:
Canetti'sAuto da fépresents the reader with an extremely complex fictional univers which problematizes the very relationship between text and context, the word and the world, story and history, signifier and signified. What is at stake here is the very possibility of the novel and, by extension, of text in general to make any kind of meaning, to extract a minimal signification from the historical phenomena it purports to metaphorize. The article focuses mainly on the temptation of the novel to posit an opening, an exit from the nihilism of Europe between the two World Wars which the novel attempts to measure up to. But this proves to be a game with an idea (perhaps the idea of Utopia itself) that the text posits and then cancels out in the absence of historical meaning

摘要:
Jünger's expressed intention notwithstanding, his essayDer Arbeiterwhich appeared in 1932 is a poetic rather than a theoretical statement about a nascent society. Its terminology and ideas stem to a large extent from German literary and aesthetic tradition, which illustrates the primacy of aestheticism in the essay. Only from this point of departure may the political ramifications of the work be evaluated.≫Es zählte zu den Maximen des Prokonsuls, daß echte Politik nur möglich sei, wo Dichtung vorausgegangen

摘要:
Jabès's ceaseless interrogation of the book is marked out against the background of the Shoah. As a problematical post‐Shoah writer, Jabès, in his more recent texts, begins to employ the wordAuschwitzas a metaphor for the unthought, unthinkable, unknowable, unsayable. While stressing the fact that he does not and cannot speak of Auschwitz as such, he nevertheless sees Auschwitz as having wounded the word which it is the poet's task to attempt to express. Jabès's writing bears the mark of this wound, and the traces of Auschwitz are inscribed in a poetics that would link them with an ethical discourse on the face and responsibility. Although God, the void and Auschwitz become metaphors for one another, it is Auschwitz that specifically, as a non‐representational absolute, interrupts the Jabès text and disrupts the appropriative movement of dialectical thought. Auschwitz as a non‐thematizable event dislocates its own position in Jabès's texts. Though Jabès can only circumscribe the wounded word, the traces of Auschwitz in his work point to the simultaneously centred and marginalized nature of the questio

摘要:
The cornerstones of our Western culture were cast in a contest between Hellenism and Judaism. Until the 20th century, the former has presided, the latter has been reduced to an undercurrent. The present deconstruction of philosophy and literary theory, however, is arguably indicative of a reversal of the roles; a substitution of Greco‐Christian values for Jewish‐kabbalistic speculation. Among Yale School critics, Harold Bloom alone acknowledges the influence of his Jewish ancestors. In Derridean theory, nevertheless, there are several trends which seem to resound the wisdom of the ancient Kabbali
