摘要:
In a considered effort to improve turbulence and heat transfer while reducing reactant/product residence time (enhancing primary product preservation) in the partial oxidation of methane lo methanol, a glass lined reactor was packed successively with a scries of metal (beads), glass (beads) and carbon (“solid foam”). The metal surfaces included, nickel, copper, silver, line, tin and stainless steel.

摘要:
A quick and simple approach for the measurement of H2S solubility in alkanolamine solutions (AAS), i.e. the electrode method, was recently reported by Rochelle et al. (1987). This is an ingenious new approach based upon the relationship of activities of hydrogen and sulfide ions with the equilibrium vapor pressure of H2S in AAS. In the present work the new method was experimentally studied and compared with the Rochelle's report and the conventional method. Additionally the effect of existence of CO2in AAS is also investigated.

摘要:
In the liquid phase dimethyl ether (DME) synthesis process, both the methanol synthesis catalyst )composed of CuO, ZnO, and Al2O3) and the methanol dehydration catalyst (composed of gamma-alumina) are slurried in the inert oil phase. Various long-term activity checks were conducted on these dual catalysts to characterize the crystal growth and the thermal aging behavior. X-ray powder diffraction, X-ray fluorescence and elemental intensity compositions, and the crystallite size distributions of the aged catalysts were examined. Based on the current investigation, it was established that the crystal growth and the catalyst deactivation problems in the methanol synthesis catalyst are less severe when it is used along with the methanol dehydration catalyst.

摘要:
This work focuses on the investigation of the catalyst post-treatment in the liquid phase methanol synthesis process. The novel post-treatment process, using carbon dioxide, has been developed and experimentally proven to be effective not only in maintaining the initial catalytic activity over a long period of usage but also in improving the mechanical and chemical strength of the catalyst. It was also found that the role of ZnO in the catalytic reaction, if any, can be nicely replaced by ZnCO3.

摘要:
Vacuum pyrolysis of petroleum residues which are classified as hazardous materials was performed in a batch reactor and enabled us to separate an upgraded oil from water and residual solids. Conversion of petroleum wastes to reusable oils reached 85% on an organic basis.

摘要:
Shale oils obtained by nitrogen retorting of North Carolina, Cleveland, Ohio, Colorado, Rundle, Stuart, and Condor oil shales have been chemically characterized by g.c.-m.s. techniques. After species identification, chemical compositions of the shale oils have been related to the geological origins of the parent shales. Based on the characteristics observed in the chromatograms, eight semi-quantitative parameters have been used to describe the chromatograms. Six of these parameters describe the relative abundance and distribution of straight chain alkanes and alkenes in the chromatograms. The other two parameters represent the abundance, relative to the total amount of volatiles in the oil, of alkylbenzenes and alkylphenols.
