摘要:
This investigation deals with paraffinic hydrocarbons in crude oil using gas chromatography/mass spectroscopy. The study indicates that Qaiyarah paraffinic hydrocarbons, identified in the naphtha fraction, could be a major contributor and good feedstock in the petrochemical industry.

摘要:
The atmospheric steam gasification of Jiaohu peat is studied at the temperature range from 973°K to 1123°K. Improvements in gas yield can be realized through catalysis by alkaline metal salts, of which K2CO3shows the best effect. High temperature and long reaction time favor the increase in gas yield, but they reduce caloric value of the gas product. As for the kinetic description of conversion of peat, the model put forward by Anthony et al., 1976 on coal pyrolysis can satisfactorily predict both catalytic and non-catalytic kinetic behaviors of gasification of peat.

Sulfur standards were studied on a high resolution gas chromatograph (GC) “HP 5890 series II plus ”. Retention times were determined for each individual compound, A sample of straight run gas-oil (SRGO) was analyzed by coulomax method for total sulfur and by GC equipped with sulfur chemiluminescence detector (SCD) for individual sulfur identification, A database for about 165 sulfur compounds was established. Using relationship between total sulfur contents determined by coulomax method and sura of individual sulfur compounds determined by GC-SCD the quantity of different sulfur compounds in SRGO was determined

摘要:
Sulfur containing furanoformolites can be utilized for production of new carbon adsorbents with narrow pore distribution and well-developed volume of the primary micropore structure. The sorption capacity of the carbons for xenon is 1·2-1·5 higher than that of the industrial sulfur-potassium activation adsorbent SKT. A mathematical dependence of the sorption capacity as a function of structural characteristics and surface polarity is derived, and its constants calculated.

摘要:
Two lignites and one bituminous coal were extracted with benzene, toluene and pyridine at both sub and overcritical conditions in a specially designed experimental system which enabled easy solid-liquid separation. Extract yields increased somewhat at overcritical conditions due to more thermal decomposition. The differences between the power of the solvents were not apparent for the lignites, whereas the solubility in pyridine of the bituminous coal was very much higher than those in benzene and toluene. The amounts of oils, asphaltenes and preasphaltenes in the extracts depended on the type of coal and the solvent.

The need for detailed information on the types of sulfur compounds present in various petroleum cuts has been well recognized by refiners and environmentalists worldwide. This need is growing in recent years in view of the current environmental regulations that limit the sulfur content of transportation fuels to very low levels. In the present work we have studied the distribution of different kinds of sulfur compounds present in light and middle distillates of Kuwait crude oil. A representative sample of Kuwait crude oil was fractionated into naphtha (15-160°C) and 10-15°C cuts in the gas oil boiling range (210-340°C) using an 80L capacity autodistillation unit “AUTODEST-800” according to ASTM 2892. The distribution of various types of sulfur compounds in each of these cuts was quantitatively estimated by capillary gas chromatography equipped with a sulfur chemiluminescence detector. Thiophene and its alkyl derivatives constituted about 60% of the total sulfur compounds in the naphtha fraction. The remaining 40% was composed of mercaptanes and alkyl sulfides. In the gas oil boiling range (210-340) two groups of sulfur compounds, namely, alkyl benzothiophenes and alkyl dibenzothiophenes were present. A major portion of the alkyl benzothiophenes was found in the fraction boiling in the narrow range 235-257°C. Among the alkyl dibenzothiophenes, the concentration of C, and C2DBTs decreased while that of higher alkyl DBTs (< C3-DBTs) increased with increasing temperature. The C1and C2alkyl DBTs were highly concentrated in a fraction boiling between 280-325°C and these sulfur compounds were absent in the fraction boiling above 330°C. The industrial implications of these results are discussed.

摘要:
The liquefaction of sugar cane bagasse in monoethanolamine (MEA) in the presence of catalysts (zeolite A, non-zeolitic aluminosilicate and zinc chloride) as well as in the absence of catalysts is described in this paper. The influence of the catalysts on the yield of the generated products is verified through a fractionation method based on relative solubility parameters. The influence of the catalysts on the conversion yield was also verified. The catalysts that yields the greater quantity of oils is the non-zeolitic aluminosilicate. However, in the overall conversion process of sugar cane bagasse, the most efficient catalyst was found to be zeolite A.

摘要:
The liquefaction of sugar cane bagasse has been an important approach to produce liquid fuels and chemical feedstocks from biomass. In the present work a process has been investigated using a series of n-alcohols such as methanol, ethanol, propanol, butanol and pentanol as the conversion media. The liquefaction studies were made in an autoclave containing the bagasse and the solvent, pressurized with hydrogen (-70 bar) and heated to 370°C for 60 minutes. The products were fractionated by preparative liquid chromatography in order to study the group-type distribution. The results obtained from liquefaction of sugar cane bagasse by ethanol suggests that this could be a good option as an alternative fuel source.
