摘要:
AbstractThis article reports on a clinical program that has been an obligatory part of the training of child psychiatrists since 1976. It consists of following infant and parent development through the first postnatal year. Although the families who volunteer to participate are not selected on the basis of identified problems or risks, intervention was indicated on several occasions. This training experience has been highly valued by child psychiatrists. It also performed functions of primary prevention. It is suggested that if such training programs were established at other institutions and in other clinical fields, the primary prevention of emotional disorders would significantly be promoted.

摘要:
AbstractThis article comments on the role of child development in a medical context. It traces the historical evolution of pediatrics as a specialty and offers a perspective on the relationship of pediatrics and child development. It outlines some of the major premises of the biomedical model on which pediatric care has been based in the past and then points out areas in which these premises are now questioned by physicians as well as patients. As a result, the article will conclude that the time is ripe for increased exchange between the two disciplines of pediatrics and child development if both the unique contributions and limitations of each are acknowledged.

摘要:
AbstractA hom‐based therapeutic program for infants with developmental disorders is described. The program is used at the Institute for Psychophysiological and Speech Disorders, Belgrade, Yugoslavia. Significant changes in infant developmental competence provide support for the use of parents as direct intervention agents for their infants. Positive changes in marital and family relationships are important side effects of parent involvement in the therapeutic habilitation of their childre

摘要:
AbstractA program of early psychosocial support for low‐income parents and infants was established at an inner‐city family health center. Such a program meets many of the criteria of successful early psychological intervention by (1) beginning during the prenatal period and extending through the first 3 years of life, (2) providing professional and peer support to the parent‐infant system, (3) responding to the social as well as psychological needs of low‐income parents, and (4) embedding preventive intervention into an accessible neighborhood

摘要:
AbstractA community mental health clinic study of 20 infants for psychological risk status combined with a group of mother (200) and infant‐toddler visits (450) over 1‐year period is described as a program for providing services to the 0 to 3 age group. Recent studies in the development of human competence emphasize the importance of these years in obtaining various social and nonsocial abilities that are crucial to life and/or work satisfaction. The community mental health clinic has the knowledge, expertise, and mandate to provide services to this age gr
