ABSTRACTPart 1 includes sections on the history of previous research, belemnite morphology and the stratigraphy of the British Toarcian outcrop. Five Toarcian belemnite biozones are proposed. 22 species belonging to 4 genera of the Belemnitidae d'Orbigny are described.
