摘要:
AbstractThis article is a first step towards understanding some of the theoretical aspects involved in simulating a continuous-time linear control system. The simulation of the pole assignment problem of the system is investigated. We show the positive result that simulation of the continuous version pole assignment procedure by the zeroth order hold function does not destroy the stability property. A stronger result states that this kind of simulation assigns the poles of the sampled system to the corresponding sampling poles of the closed-loop continuous system up to a second order of the sampling period.

摘要:
AbstractTins paper considers recently developed theoretical, closed form re-sults which permit the detailed analysis of a popular robust signal detector for nominally Laplace i.i.d. noise. Although the theoretical results hold for arbitrary sample sizes, the evaluation of these results can require lengthy computation times for even intermediate sample sizes. For this reason, a simulation analysis of this robust detector may be more practical. This paper demonstrates that importance sampling can significantly speed (as compared to conventional Monte Carlo techniques) the simulation time required for estimating the smaller false alarm probabilities. Furthermore, the theoretical results can be used to compare the effectiveness of the importance sampling simulation technique. However, one drawback to importance sampling is that it requires an exact knowledge of the input statistics.

摘要:
AbstractThe molecular dynamics simulation method is extended to study a model of diffusion-controlled reactions. This allows a molecular description of a solvent at an equal footing of reactants. The dynamics of a solvent and its local structure significantly affect the dynamics of reacting species in the short time region. In this region, the rate of the migration of reactants is much larger than that given by Smoluchowski’s theory. The simulation results establish that Smoluchowski’s theory describes correctly the long time asymptotic behaviour of the time-dependent rate coefficient.

摘要:
AbstractAn algorithm is presented for solving coupled multiple conductor transmission line systems. The method is based on representing the network as coupled recursive tree data structures and solving for the impedance, voltage and current at each node using recursive programming techniques. The technique is especially useful in the analysis of coupling in multiconductor transmission line networks with many branches and mixed transmission line characteristics. An example of a network consisting of a four conductor transmission line with coupling is given.

摘要:
AbstractThe advantages of energy storage systems operating on electric power networks are well known, concerning with their capabilities of load levelling. As superconductivity technology improves and expands into several new fields of application, it becomes increasingly significant to consider superconducting magnets as alternative energy storage systems. The possibility of easily controlling the energy stored in the magnets through electronic converters gives more interest to the topic, and much more if one considers that the magnet inductance will provide AC/DC converters with the ideal load, consisting of a DC current source. The authors examine two different solutions for the converters configuration, in a way that underlines performances and limits of each solution. In particular, natural and forced commutation converters are considered: a simple, naturally commutated converter scheme is analyzed; and then the use of GTO thyristors is pointed out. Potentialities are compared.
