摘要:
AbstractThe article describes a real-time simulator for operator education and training in the sugar industry. The simulator represents the crystallization and separation processes in production. It facilitates a realistic environment to the operator, offering the same information and the same possibilities of interaction as on the physical process. To give a realistic impression of the dynamic behaviour of the process, the simulator runs in real time (or faster).

摘要:
AbstractA new multi-threshold Perceptron capable of handling both binary and analog input is presented and discussed. The modified Perceptron replaces the sigmoid function with sum of Gaussian functions with different mean values. A computer program was developed to simulate behavior of a network utilizing the modified Perceptron. Both XOR and parity check problems were solved using a single-layer network utilizing this modified Perceptron. Based on the results obtained from our simulation, the modified Perceptron is capable of solving problems (such as. XOR) that cannot be solved using the classical Perceptrotl. Also, a network utilizing this modified Perceptron reqUIres fewer iterations to converge to a solution than that of a multi-layer network using back propagation.

摘要:
AbstractAny system can be defined in terms of structure, operation, and decision making. If one is to compare system design structures and operations accurately, an optimal set of decision rules is required for each alternative, development of which can be very difficult. The Operational Evaluation Modeling (OpEM) inductive/adaptive expert system controller can greatly facilitate this task. The decision rule development procedure optimizes system effectiveness by initial induction of the rule tree, using sample decision cases, followed by adaptive rule modification, using a run time simulation program interface and automatic rule strength modification. The rule specification language consists of all primitives needed to implement local and global reasoning. These primitives include fuzzy facts (object-value couplets) and variable instantiation of facts. Rule development interlace capabilities include manual optimization of fuzzy object set function variables and addition or deletion of rules.

摘要:
AbstractThe job we present refers to a great actuality problem: urban solid waste disposal. This article discusses one of the most frequently used disposal techniques for incineration. A standard plant is modelled and translated in a software product implemented on a personal computer with the ltalsider stochastic simulation method with discrete temporal=type event evolution. Considering as starting point the statistical analysis of hystorical series concerning the waste quality and the plant breakdowns, we have formulated an up-to-date database to be interfaced to the simulator. Said simulator, after a preliminar statistical confirmation phase, has been utilized in the experimental campaign carried out with the usual experimental design techniques, to the end of obtaining mathematic models describing the actual functioning. The aim of this research is to optimize the plant pre-project phases and to adapt the simulator to the specific industrial requirements.

摘要:
AbstractThis article analyzes a new technique for improving the efficiency of parallel fault simulation called Multiple Number of Faults per Pass. This technique partitions the total fault set into groups, taking care to avoid fictitious faults and fault masking. All the faults in one group are then inserted at the same time for one pass of a fault simulator. It was found from experiments on some sample circuits that with this method an efficiency improvement varying from 15% to 50% could be achieved over conventional parallel simulation.

摘要:
AbstractWhen building user interfaces to AI applications for a complex system, there is an often-overlooked knowledge engineering effort to capture an expert's view of the system, and to detennine the abstraction of data that will be presented to users. This knowledge is generally mixed into the interface or graphics code, and is subsequently lost when other applications are developed for the same complex system, or in the event of porting the application to another platform. Few methods exist for representing the underlying structure of an expert’s view of a system that originally indicated the content to be presented by an interface. It is desirable to capture and explicitly represent this knowledge, so that it can be used by a vuriety of interface processes and accessed in different ways to provide appropriate views of the system for new application. We present a technique for using a causal model to represent expert knowledge about system functionality and behavior. Our approach extends previous work in causal reasoning by mapping the behavior of a system at the usual structural level to higher-level functional descriptions of what the system is actually doing. In this paper, we discuss the causal-modeling approach to user interfaces and demonstrate the applicability of the approach with an example system. Practical implementation trade-offs and considerations are discussed.
