AbstractA control planning procedure for glass melting in a glass furnace is described, with the aim of achieving precise control of process variables and fuel cost reduction. AbstractWe consider the analysis of a boundary controlled two-dimensional diffusion system in the case of a long strip. The temperature in the strip is disturbed at one of the long ends and is controlled at the other end. The mean temperature over a part of the strip(near the disturbed boundary temperature) is the input of the controller. In the linear case, stability and convergence analysis has been done both by theoretical and by numerical simulation.

摘要:
AbstractTechnique and results of modelling the operation of a current-controlled three-phase power inverter with hysteretic current controllers are presented. Four control options are considered: the so-called independent and dependent controls, each using either two or three current controllers. Performance indices of an exemplary inverter-induction motor set and an RL-loaded, otherwise difficult to computer, were determined. Digital simulation allows the drawing of qualitative conclusions concerning operating characteristics of current-controlled inverters under various control options. This facilitates choice of the control option that is best suited to a specific application.

AbstractWe propose a control scheme for a discrete-time linear stochastic multi-input multi-output (M1M0) system, with imperfectly known or slowly time-varying parameters.The selected approach is generalized minimum variance control, but the method can easily be extended to generalized predictive control. The quadratic criterion to be minimized penalizes the variance of the difference between the output of a reference model and the predicted variable to be regulated. It also penalizes the difference between two successive control vectors. We have also Included, in the model, quadratic constraints on control variables. In application to production - planning problems, these correspond to minimal and maximal production capacities. The predicted auxiliary output is determined by an extended least-squares algorithm, and the optimality conditions evolve by periodical resetting of the criterion weights. This resetting Is achieved from the Lagrangean problem formulation, since the role of Lagrange multipliers Is similar to that of control weights. Weighting parameters can therefore be periodically adjusted by a Robblns-Monro type algorithm to solve the system of equations obtained from Kuhn-Tucker necessary conditions.

AbstractThis paper deals with the estimation of the state variables and the identification of some parameters of the model of an induction motor. A general algorithm, based on the Extended Kalman Filter technique, is considered for the solution of both these problems. The algorithm is particularly suitable as regards numerical stability and computational complexity. Two real-time applications of the algorithm are considered. The first regards the estimation of the stator flux and the angular speed. The second regards the estimation of the stator flux and the rotor resistance. An implementation on a microprocessor device for on-line operation is made possible by a fast central unit with sufficient memory

摘要:
AbstractThe subject of this paper is the estimation of the radiological risk of nuclear-powered ships to the population residing in and around large ports. The port that we use as an example is Piraeus, the largest port of Greece, which is located within Athens basin, a very large population centre. To estimate the risk, a series of accident scenarios, the most severe for the type of reactors employed in nuclear ships, are utilized, and appropriate source terms for a nuclear ship with a thermal power of 40 MW are calculated. Consequence calculations are performed by the CRAC2 computer model. Doses and individual cancer risk from exposure to the passing radioactive cloud are estimated up to a distance of 30 km from the port. Collective exposure and health effects due to initial exposure and chronic exposure from inhalation of resuspended radionuclides and exposure to groundshine from contaminated ground are estimated for the over three million inhabitants residing in and around Piraeus.
