RésuméLes doctrines vitalistes ou panpsychistes ont représenté longtemps le courant central de la pensée philosophique, et même scientifique. L'atomisme mécaniste n'était qu'une philosophie d'amateur, inutilisable scientifiquement. L'avènement de la mécanique galiléenne a interverti momentanément les rôles.Mais aujourd'hui, I'avèement de la microphysique permet de donner un sens précis au panpsychisme. Toutes les individualités, de la molécule à l'organisme, ont un caractère domanial. Elles ne fonctionnent pas, elles se forment, se comportent, agissent selon des thèmes. Or, ces propriétés sont celles du « champ de conscience ». Ma conscience actuelle ne fait qu'un avec mon domaine d'espace. Le caractère « mien » de ma conscience signifie qu'elle est « ici » Le caractère « sien » d'une conscience autre signifie qu'elle est « ailleurs ». La pensée, distincte de la conscience actuelle, correspond à des thémes non localisables. La biologie et la physique contemporaines tendent à devenir psychobiologie et psychophysique.ZusammenfassungDie vitalistischen oder panpsychischen Lehren stellten lange die zentrale Stromung des philosophischen, ja auch des wissenschaftlichen Denkens dar. Die mechanistische Atomlehre war nur eine Liebhaberphilosophie, wissenschaftlich nicht venvertbar. Das Aufkommen des galileischen Mechanismus hat die Rollen eine Zeitlang vertauscht.Heutzutage erlaubt aber das Aufkommen der Mikrophysik, dem Panpsychismus einen bestimmten Sinn zu verleihen. Sämtliche Individualitäten, vom Molekül bis zum Organismus besitzen einen bezirkgebundenen Charakter. Sie funktionieren nicht, sie bilden sich, betragen sich, handeln nach gewissen Themen. Nun sind diese Eigenschaften aber die des « Bewusstseinsumfangs ». Mein gegenwärtiges Bewusstsein ist eins mit dem Raum, der mein Bezirk ist. Die Bestimmung « mein » meines Bewusstseins bedeutet, dass es « hier » ist. Die Bestimmung « sein » eines anderen Bewusstseins bedeutet, dass es « woanders » ist. Das vom gegenwärtigen Bewusstsein zu unterscheidende Denken entspricht nicht lokalisierbaren Themen. Die Biologie und die Physik der Gegenwart streben danach, zur Psychobiologie und Psychophysik zu werden.AbstractThe vitalist and panpsychist doctrines have long represented the main stream of philosophical and even scientific thought. Mechanical atomism was only an amateurish philosophy, with no scientific utility. The appearance of the Galilean mechanics has momentarily reversed the positions.But the appearance today of microphysics enables one to give a precise meaning to panpsychism. All individualities, from the molecule up to the organism, have a domanial character. They do not function, they form themselves, behave and act, in accordance with themes. These properties are those of the « field of consciousness. » My actual consciousness is one with my space domain. RésuméScience et philosophie sont deux domaines de recherche distincts qui étudient la même réalité avec des points de vue et des méthodes différents. La science ne doit pas se borner à l'analyse, mais son rôle est aussi l'explication synthétique de l'aspect scientifique de la réalité totale (cosmologie ou phéoméologie scientifique), c'est‐à‐dire l'aspect scientifique de l'être qui n'est pas esprit et matière séparés, mais organisation matérielle plus ou moins complexe. La science ainsi, sans empiéter sur le domaine de la philosophie, s'occupe de l'aspect scientiflque objectif des valeurs spirituelles particuliérement important pour le monde scientifique et technique actuel. La philosophie, conservant son rôle d'étude spécifique du point de vue ontologique, apparaît alors comme plus facile à accorder à la science.ZueammenfassungWissenschaft und Philosophie haben nicht voneinander getrennte Wissensgebiete. Sie erforschen dieselbe Realitat, tun es aber aus verschiedenen Gesichtspunkten. Die Wissenschaft kann sich nicht mit der blossen Analysis begnügen. Es steht ihr auch zu, die Realität synthetisch zu erklären. Ihr Wissensgebiet erstreckt sich über die totale Realität, sie begegnet aber derselben als wissenschaftliche Kosmologie und Phänomenologie des Seins, das nicht in Geist und Seele zerfällt, sondern eine mehr oder weniger komplizierte materielle Organisation darstellt. Ohne mit der Philosophie in Konkurrenz zu treten, kann sich also die Wissenschaft auch mit der wissenschaftlich objektiven Seite der geistigen Werte beschäftigen, die fur die heutige wissenschaftlich‐technische Welt so grosse Bedeutung haben. Dabei behalt die Philosophie ihre volle Speziflzität als Forschung und Wissen vom ontologischen Standpunkt aus und ist als solche leichter mit der Wissenschaft in Einklang zu bringen.AbstractScience and philosophy are two distinct fields studying the same things with unlike prospects and methods. Science has not only to analyze, but also to synthetize and explain the scientific appearance of everything (cosmology or scientific phenomenology) that is scientiflc appearance of the metaphysic creature, which is no double, spirit and matter, but single, material more or less complexifled organization. AbstractModern philosophical biology has been dominated by the idea of mechanism. Even the attempts to escape from mechanism, such as the theories of vitalism and holism, covertly assume the mechanistic hypothesis while surrounding it with an aura of mysticism. The mechanistic approach is the result of applying the methods of physics to the realm of biology. The immense prestige of physics has tended to disguise the fact that biology is a science in its own right, with autonomous principles. The purpose of the article is to develop the philosophy of organism, first systematically elaborated by Whitehead, and to seek to demonstrate that organic being is unintelligible without the concept of purposiveness and hence of value. This necessarily leads to the return of metaphysics in the form of metabiology.RésuméLa biologie philosophique moderne est dominée par l'idée de mécanisme. Il n'est pas jusqu'aux tentatives d'échapper au mécanisme, telle par exemple la théorie du vitalisme et celle du holisme, qui n'assument implicitement l'hypothése mécaniste tout en l'entourant d'une aura de mysticisme. La conception mécaniste résulte de l'applicatio n des méthodes de la physique au domaine de la biologie. L'immense prestige de la physique a tendu à déguiser le fait pourtant reel que la biologie est une science qui jouit de sa propre souveraineté et de principes autonomes. Le but de cet article est d'exposer une philosophie de l'organisme élaborée systématiquement par Whitehead pour la premiére fois et de chercher ensuite à démontrer que tout être organique est inintelligible en dehors du concept de finalité et, par conséquent, de valeur. Ceci conduit nécessairement à un renouveau de la métaphysique

RésuméLa philosophie d'inspiration scientifique n'est pas une épistémologie comme la philosophie des sciences, mais une philosophie de la nature. Elle s'appuie sur les résultats atteints par les sciences, mais les utilise d'une manière originale en se plaçant à un point de vue vraiment spéculatif: elle n'est donc jamais simple extrapolation de la science. A. N. Whitehead et Raymond Ruyer par exemple ont développé de remarquables philosophies d'inspiration scientifique qui se caractérisent par deux tendances fondamentales: la tendance spinoziste selon laquelle toute réalité possède deux faces complémentaires, une intériorité spirituelle et une structure spatio‐temporelle, et la tendance leibnizienne qui valorise l'intériorité au profit de la structure et distingue de ce fait entre des êtres véritables doués de subjectivité, comme les atomes, les molécules et les êtres vivants et de simples agrégats sans organisation. Ces tendances philosophiques prennent de plus en plus d'ampleur de nos jours.ZusammenfassungUnter einer Philosophie im Geiste und auf dem Grunde moderner Wissenschaft ist nicht eine Erkenntnistheorie zu verstehen oder eine Art Wissenschaftslehre, sondern eine Naturphilosophie. Sie beruht auf den Ergebnissen der verschiedenen Wissenschaften, verwendet sie aber auf besondere Weise, das heisst spekulativ. Sie ist nie eine blosse Extrapolation wissenschaftlicher Erkenntnis. So haben beispielsweise A. N. Whitehead und Raymond Ruyer bemerkenswerte philosophische Systeme dieser Art entwickelt, deren Eigenart es ist, dass sie zwei verschiedene ontologische Auffassungen miteinander zu verbinden suchen. Die eine Auffassung, die spinozistische, vertritt die Ansicht, dass jede Wirklichkeit doppelseitig ist, dass sie eine Innenseite psychischer Art besitzt, verbunden mit einer raumzeitlichen Struktur. Die andere von Leibniz ausgehende Auffassung sucht dem Moment des Innenlebens dadurch Gewicht und Wert zu verleihen, dass ihm Form und Struktur zugestanden werden. So kommt es zu der wichtigen Unterscheidung zwischen Wesen, die Einzelexistenz besitzende Subjekte sind, und blossen, unorganisch zusammengesetzten Aggregaten. Diese beiden Richtungen machen sich im heutigen philosophischen Denken in steigendem Masse geltend.AbstractScience‐inspired philosophy is no epistemology like science philosophy but a philosophy of Nature. It bases itself on the results achieved by sciences but utilizes them in an original way by adopting a resolutely speculative point of view. Therefore it never is a mere extrapolation of science. A. N. Whitehead and Raymond Ruyer, for instance, have evolved remarkable philosophies inspired by science and which are characterized by two fundamental trends: the spinozistic conception according to which any reality whatsoever assumes two complementary aspects: a spiritual interiority and a space‐time structure and the leibnizian tendency to valorize interiority for the sake of structure and thus operate a distinction between actual subjectivity‐endowed beings such as atoms, molecules, human creatures and mere unorganized aggregates.
