摘要:
Abamectin (avermectin B1a) was applied during the 1989/90 season to previously unsprayed kiwifruit (Actinidia deliciosa) vines in the Waikato, New Zealand as seven regularly scheduled applications at 0.76 g a.i./100 litres, following two dormant applications of chlorpyrifos at 24 g a.i/100 litres. Microscopic assessment of harvested fruit recorded 4 scale/100 fruit for the treated vines, in comparison with 54 scale/100 fruit for untreated vines. In the subsequent season four sprays of abamectin were applied at 0.76 g a.i./100 litres combined with mineral oil (Shell Sunspray) at 0.25%. These applications were timed to coincide with the release of second generation greedy scale crawlers. Assessment of harvested fruit showed 16 scale/100 fruit for treated vines, 102 scale/100 fruit for untreated vines.

摘要:
Seasonal variation in the concentration of macronutrients and micronutrients in fine roots (<2 mm diameter) of mature kiwifruit (Actinidia deliciosavar.deliciosa) vines were sampled regularly over 1 year. For the majority of elements, concentrations exhibited a sinusoidal pattern of change, with a seasonal minimum 1–13 weeks after fruitset, and a seasonal maximum, within 12 weeks of budbreak. Concentrations thus declined from around budbreak until after fruitset, thee began rising again before harvest, and into winter. Exceptions were calcium and iron, which fluctuated randomly about a constant value throughout the season, and magnesium and boron, which had two maxima (instead of one) between harvest and budbreak. Measurements were compared with those from other woody tree crops, and the potential for the fine root system to supply nutrient to new season's growth is discussed.

摘要:
The short tongued bumble bee,Bombus terrestris(L.), followed by the honey bee,Apis melliferaL., were the commonest blueberry pollinators at Lincoln, New Zealand. At most, 7% of honey bee visits and 24% ofB. terrestrisvisits to blueberry flowers could have resulted in pollination. Honey bees visited flowering shelter adjacent to the blueberries more often than the bumble bees did. The long tongued bumble bees,B. hortorum(L.) andB. ruderatus(Fabr.), consistently pollinated blueberry flowers, bit low populations restricted their value in pollination. There were no other effective insect pollinators of blueberries.
