General Motors (GM). instigators and driving force behind manufacturing automation protocol (MAP). recently unveiled a fully operational MAP-based computer network at its Truck and Bus Group assembly plant in Pontiac, Michegan, USA. It was described by Charles Katho, GM vice-president and group executive in charge of the Truck and Bus Group, as a factory: “which sets a pattern for the rest of the industrial world.”
