摘要:
Neutron scattering experiments under magnetic field and under high pressure reveal that the unusual properties of the low carrier system CeP originate from the appearance of Γ8,–like Ce ions, the moment value of which is about 2μBamong Ce ions with Γ7crystal field ground state. The 2μBCe ions appear periodically in the form of double layers of (001) plane in which the Ceions couple together ferromagnetically. The formation of a lattice of 2μBCe ions with a systematic change of the period under the external fields, and the coexistence of antiferromagnetism in the γ7Ce lattice, which is sandwiched by the 2μBCe layers, characterize the complex phase diagrams of CeP.

摘要:
Small–angle neutron scattering (SANS) is a powerful technique to investigate critical phenomena, miscibility and phase transition of polymer blends because of the enhanced contrast between deuterium-labeled polymers and non–labeled polymers. Two SANS instruments, SANS–U (University of Tokyo) and SANS–J (JAERI) installed at the guide hall of the JAERI reactor JRR–3M, are available for the studies of polymer blends. Both instruments provide scattering data with a quality high enough to be used for detailed analyses of the polymer blends. Here we review two notable works of polymer blends performed with those two SANS instruments. Both works report new findings related to the singlephase states of polymer blends [1,2].

摘要:
On the morning of March 9, 1998, Achim Kollmar died at the young age of 57. The neutron scattering community lost a renowned scientist and instrument designer whocontributed for more than thirty years to the development and exploitation of both reactor and spallation neutrons. But, more importantly, we lost a good friend and colleague, who among others, was gifted with the rare trait of being able to listen. His quiet and modest character straight away attracted others to ask him for advice or help.
