摘要:
This study compares 30 cleft lip and palate (CLP), 55 cleft palate (CP) and 28 cleft lip (CL) children in terms of descriptive speech data, nasalance data and the frequency of secondary surgery performed on patients. The CLP children had less hypernasality and audible nasal air emissions than CP children. The groups were equal with respect to articulation proficiency. The CLP and CL children generated similar nasalance scores, which were significantly lower than those of the CP children. Secondary surgery was equally common in the CLP and CP children.

摘要:
Two groups of women, one aged 20–35 years and the other aged 75 years and older, read the ‘Rainbow Passage’ and produced the vowel /a/ at minimum, conversational, and maximum intensity levels. The results indicate that the two groups did not exhibit significant differences in speech intensity for the reading passage or the conversational level vowel productions. On the other hand, the older women exhibited significantly higher minimum and significantly lower maximum intensity vowels than the younger

摘要:
Auditory-perceptual studies reported inconsistent data with respect to syllabic timing in cerebellar dysarthria, i.e. both reduced and increased variability of syllable durations. The present study performed a comprehensive analysis of syllabic timing during sentence utterances in 14 subjects with a pure cerebellar syndrome (CA). First, the CA patients presented with reduced speech tempo in terms of syllable and utterance durations. Second, a tendency for intrautterance syllabic isochrony, being an aspect of the percept of ‘scanning speech’, characterized a subgroup of patients with cerebellar dysarthria. Third, increased interutterance durational variability was found in three out of the five syllables considered. Thus, both reduced intrautterance and increased interutterance variability of syllable durations may pertain to cerebellar dysarthria. The latter dimension, however, seems to be more promin

摘要:
To control their voices, singers rely not only on auditory feedback but also on proprioceptive feedback supplied by internal voice sensitivities (IVS). IVS, which are essentially pallesthetic (vibratory) and kinesthetic (muscular), provide singers with precise landmarks for controlling their emission. This means of control is more reliable than auditory feedback in which the voice is substantially modified by the acoustics of the environment.

摘要:
This study tested the effects of artificial pitch change of the auditory feedback on the fundamental frequency of normal-hearing subjects in text reading. The subjects (4 males, 24 females; 4 subjects were professional speech trainers, 3 subjects were trained singers; 1 male and 6 females were habitually using a non-optimal speaking pitch) read aloud from a text first the same paragraph twice in normal circumstances and then again while hearing their own voices, in real time changed in pitch, through headphones. In most cases the reading pitch increased during auditory feedback manipulations and the changes were larger than the differences found between recapitulations of the same text. The speech trainers and singers did not differ from the other subjects in their reactions. Three of the 7 subjects with pitch problems did not change the pitch at all and 3 did change it to an inappropriate direction. Only 1 subject with a pitch problem did benefit from the feedback manipulation. These results suggest that with certain limitations this method could be taken advantage of in voice training.

摘要:
The study offers measurements of the vocal breaks occurring from the modal to the falsetto register in an untrained barytone. The breaks were achieved by increasing the expired airflow. An analogy with a labial pipe served as a help. The voice phenomena were divided into three regions. In the region of low modal frequencies (A–e) a simultaneous sounding of both the modal and falsetto registers was investigated. This was registered perceptually as vocal roughness. Under special conditions a subharmonic tone was produced. In the medium frequency region (e–g1) the vocal breaks occurred. The break intervals occupied the mean value of about a quint on the modal tone e. With increasing modal frequency, the break intervals decreased. In the high-tone region (g1–e2) only the falsetto register could be pro
