摘要:
Investigations on the stabilization of them=2 rotational instability in a high‐field theta pinch with a normalized separatrix radius of &khgr;s=0.14 are reported. With multipole fields lower than a theoretical threshold by factors of 2.5 and 2.1 no stabilization was observed in contrast to successful stabilization of low‐field configurations with &khgr;s=0.4–0.6 reported in the literature.

摘要:
New simple approximate relativistic expressions for the Hermitian part of the dielectric tensor, the real part of the refractive index and the locations of cutoffs have recently been proposed [Phys. Fluids B4, 3460 (1992)]. It was suggested that this approximation would be of use to reflectometry as well as to a number of other applications. There are, however, significant limitations in the accuracy of this approximation, which are pointed out here.

摘要:
An approximation is discussed for interprelation of X‐mode reflectometry in tokamak experiments. The nonapplicability of this approximation to wave propagation at large oblique angles to the magnetic field is also discussed. (AIP)
