摘要:
The possibility of increasing angular density of charged and neutral particle beams using different scattering rates of particles with different angles of incidence is discussed. The experimental evidence of this increase is presented. The possibility to intensify the effect by its successive use in different crystals is discussed.

摘要:
Cherenkov radiation emitted from electron irradiated dielectrics such as mica, quartz and BaTiO3was detected in a transmission electron microscope with the accelerating voltages of 80 kV to 200 kV. Transition radiation was also observed from metals (Al, Ag, Au) and semiconductors (GaAs, Si). Dependence of their intensities and spectra on accelerating voltage and crystal thickness was investigated.

摘要:
Radiation generated by relativistic charges can be analyzed and described in exquisite detail. One reason that such detailed analysis is possible is because the phases of radiated photons often are determined completely by the initial conditions of the relativistic charges and the radiating system. The phase relationships between the initial charges and the radiated photons represent coherence in the emitted radiation. A previous paper decribed how this coherence could affect the spatial and spectral distributions of radiation generated by a single charge in a periodic radiator. The present paper discusses a complementary issue; namely, how the temporal shape of a relativistic charge bunch can emphasize specific features of the radiation generated at a single interaction site.

摘要:
The results of investigation of the quasi-Cherenkov (parametric) X-ray emission of 4.5 GeV electrons in diamond and quartz crystals are presented. A noticeable increase in X-ray photons yield has been observed under the influence of external factors (acoustic waves, temperature gradient).

The energy dependence of the coherent production ofe+e−-pairs in crystals (diamond, ⟨100⟩) is measured in the photons energy range 100-1000 MeV, which confirms the existence of B-type effect in this process.

摘要:
Synchrotron-like processes of radiation and pair production in fields of crystal planes are accompanied by large number of polarization effects. These effects can be used for production and analysis of TeV-energy polarizede+,e−, photon and hadron beams for their use in high-energy physics. The process ofe+ande−self-polarization accomapnies their radiation in bent crystals, where channeled particles are moving in regions having a preferential direction of the electric field. The results of numerical simulation of self-polarization process with both radiation and multiple scattering taken into account are presented. It is shown that the self-polarization process can be observed using present-day CERN secondary positron beam. At TeV-energy region the efficiency of bothe+ande−self-polarization can be considerably risen by making the crystal curvature growing along the crystal.

摘要:
New isomers ofCnforn= 4, 5, 6 have been observed using the combination of laser photodetachment technique and the Coulomb Explosion Imaging method. Electron affinities of these isomers were found to be lower than the corresponding known linear isomers. The structure of low electron affinityC4isomer was found to be rhombic in accordance with recent theory. Indications for the non linearity of the low electron affinity isomers ofC5andC6are also presented.

摘要:
Theory is developed for dd fusion resulting from the impact of accelerated clusters of D2O on deuterated solid targets. Sequences of collisions between D atoms and heavy atoms of the beam and target are studied as a mechanism for quickly increasing the relative velocities of pairs of deuterons. Fusion yields are calculated as a sum over 10 such sequences. Calculated yields are many orders of magnitude smaller than the results reported by Beuhler, Friedlander, and Friedman. Implications of these differences are discussed.

摘要:
The dissociation of H+2-molecules with energies ranging from 0.4 to 1.6 MeV in grazing collisions with a clean and atomically flat W(100)-surface is investigated by spectroscopy of the energy of the dissociated fragments. We observe two peaks in the energy spectra which result from the Coulomb explosion in longitudinal direction during surface scattering. Intensities and widths of both peaks are clearly different and depend strongly on the angle of scattering.
