AbstractThe spectra of cosmic pions and nucleons at an atmospheric depth of 100 g cm−2have been derived from sea level muon spectra at low and high latitudes. The derived spectra of pions and nucleons at low and high latitudes follow the relationsN(Eπ)dEπ = 0.23Eπ−2.68dEπ andN(Ep)dEp= 2.98E p−2.68dEpper cm2sec str GeV in the energy range 15–1200 GeV. Below 15 GeV it is found that the exponent of the energy spectrum is very much dependent upon the incident energy and latitude of the location. AbstractWe consider the diffraction of plane waves by a slit between two semi‐infinite halfplanes for arbitrary angles of incidence and DIRICHLETboundary condition (electric field strength parallel to the edges). By a function‐theoretic technique, which treats the angles of observation and incidence on an equal footing, we derive a high‐frequency asymptotic expansion for the far field amplitude, uniformly valid over the whole range of both angles. Our expansion in terms of products of generalized FRESNELintegrals is compared with the known limiting cases of normal and grazing incidence both analytically and numerically including a comparison with MATHIEU‐series

AbstractUnter Berücksichtigung des Abbaus des Pumpimpulses wird die Theorie der nichtstationären stimulierten Raman‐Streuung entwickelt. Auf der Grundlage einer semiklassischen nichtstationären Störungsrechnung werden unter Verzicht auf die Phononenvorstellung zwei gekoppelte Differentialgleichungen zur Beschreibung der Umwandlung eines Laserimpulses in einen Stokes‐Impuls abgeleitet. Ihre Lösung erfolgt sowohl analytisch in einem sukzessiven Näherungsverfahren als auch mittels Computer‐Rechnungen. AbstractEs wird die Transmission für Impulse verschiedener Form (Gauß‐, Lorentz‐ und Rechteck‐impuls) bei Durchlauf durch eine Absorberküvette angegeben. Die Atome des Mediums werden als Zwei‐Niveau‐Systeme angenommen. Die Änderung der Besetzung im unteren Niveau wird in einer ersten Näherung berücksichtigt, so daß die erhaltenen Ergebnisse nur für hinreichend schwache Impulse gelten. Die Transmission ist im hier betrachteten Fall der (schwach) nichtlinearen Absorption u. a. von der Impulsform und der longitudinalen Relaxationszeit des Absorbers abhängig. AbstractIn this part onedimensional models of membranesystems are treated, i.e. such membranes, which are unbounded in two dimensionsy,z. The equations of motion for such systems can be derived using the results of part I or of part II. The equation of motion containing the one particle densities can be written in the form of an Onsager relation, the coefficientsLαβof which are symmetric. The dependence ofLαβon the densities is calculated. The approximation used up to now in the literature is seen to be the lowest order one.
