摘要:
The organization of the mail concentration lays on the simultaneous and interdependent definition 1) of the sorting work made in post—offices and their sorting center and 2) of the multiple vehicules routing problems with time windows that vary with the sorting level in post offices. A scenario approach is used to focus only on the afternoon mail picking, that is to perform during a very short period. Then the vehicule routings may be qualified as <wire-routings>, instead of <loop-routings>. A model using linear programming is given and used to solve an actual problem (with GAMS). Then, a model generalization is done for including the possibility of including some <pre-sorting centers> between post—offices and the sorting center (network design) and of defining the optimal vehicules float.

摘要:
The case study describes work undertaken to support decisions regarding truck replacement in a food corporation based in the United Kingdom. The corporation produces a wide range of food items and has an extensive distribution network. The use of a DSS in assessing the uncertainty inherent in estimating the cost elements associated with the purchase, operation and disposal of a truck is presented. A data base brings the discipline for the regular collection and easy updating of the cost elements. A Visual Basic module provides a simple, < at a glance >, visual means to assess and illustrate the sensitivity of the economic life and cost implications to uncertainty regarding the cost elements. The DSS provides a simple user interface, requiring only the use of a < mouse > for input, program control, and visual displays of output. Consideration of optimisation, sensitivity, what—if and goal—seeking analyses is implicit in the visual displays.

摘要:
The basic principles of the PROMETHEE and GAIA multicriteria decision aid methods are first recalled. An original procedure, called PROMETHEE VI, is then introduced to evaluate the degree of hardness of a multicriteria decision problem with respect to the weights given to the criteria. A classification between hard and soft multicriteria decision problems is then proposed. A numerical application is developed to demonstrate the procedure.

摘要:
We describe in this paper a Predictive Man—Machine Environment (PMME) that can in general be used in the automatic training and evaluation of control operators, and also serve as a Decision Support System (DSS) in their routine planning and decision making activity. In particular, we present the PMME in reference to Air Traffic Control (ATC), an economically and intellectually important domain for automation. The design and implementation of PMME are based on two connected workstations, one of which displays the essential features of the Current World and the other those of the Extrapolated World. The latter predicts the future consequences of the control operator's tentative decisions made in responding to the Current World. If the operator is satisfied with the consequences, he finalizes his decisions; otherwise, he modifies the tentative decision and, time permitting, goes through this cycle as many times as necessary. A simulated ATC environment for the PMME has also been implemented and two sets of experiments have been performed with tasks of equal complexity—one with and the other without the extrapolation facility. A statistically significant improvement has been shown in the ATC operations that rely on the extrapolation facility. It can be said in general that the PMME increases the effectiveness and efficiency of human judgmental processes by extending their range, capabilities and speed.
