摘要:
A simple method for determination of ammonium in semimicro‐Kjeldahl analysis of soils and plant materials using a Tecator or Technicon 40‐tube block digester is described. It involves use of an inexpensive steam distillation apparatus that permits direct distillation of ammonium from the tubes used for Kjeldahl digestion in 40‐tube block digesters. The method is rapid and precise, and it gives results that agree closely with those obtained by the customary method of ammonium N analysis involving transfer of the Kjeldahl digest before distillation.

摘要:
A simple colorimetric method of determining phenylphosphorodiamidate in soil extracts and urea fertilizer solutions is described. It involves measurement of the yellow color produced when phenylphosphorodiamidate is treated with sodium perborate solution in the presence of benzidine. The method is rapid, sensitive, and precise, and it gives quantitative (99–101%) recovery of phenylphosphorodiamidate added to soil extracts or urea fertilizer solutions.

摘要:
A number of manual colorimetric methods for the determination of inorganic nitrogen in 1 M KCl soil extracts were investigated to find techniques that were inexpensive, rapid, versatile and suitable for laboratories with limited analytical equipment. Three colorimetric methods for No−3‐N determination were evaluated and only the copperised/cadmium reduction technique suffered no significant interference from the Cl−present in the extracting solution. A phenol‐hypo‐chlorite (Berthelot) procedure for NH+4‐N determination and the Griess‐Ilosvay method for NO−2‐N determination were both found suitable for N determination in 1M KC1 soil extracts. The reliability and accuracy obtainable with the manual colorimetric methods described was shown to be comparable with that obtained from colorimetric analyses performed using an AutoAnalyser.

摘要:
A two‐step digestion procedure using HNO3and H2O2/UV irradiation is described. The samples are predigested with HNO3, succeeded by digestion in H2O2under UV irradiation. The maximum temperature is 150°C. The digestion is performed without sample transfer during oxidation. The analytical data obtained by the new digestion method do not deviate from those obtained by HClO4digestion. The macronutrient elements including P were measured.

摘要:
Preliminary experiments indicate that potassium fertilization at a rate of 270 mg K/kg soil amel.iorates Iron deficiencies in peanuts grown in an extremely calcareous soil (63% CaCO3). Amelioration was greater with the application of KCl than with that of KNO3or K2HPO4, indicating that the cation:anion balance of roct uptake is involved. Potassium chloride application caused a 73% increase in the chlorophyll content; this value is 90% of that of the FeEDDHA treatment. Manipulation of the cation: anion balance of macronutrients may prove to be an effective means of controlling lime‐induced chlorosis.

摘要:
There is evidence that mugwort (Artemisia vulgarisL.) may have potential for use as a livestock forage. This study was undertaken to determine mugwort growth response to lime, P, and Mg, and their effect on elemental concentration of plant material.

摘要:
Abundant quality forage is required for economic livestock production on the highly erodable soils of northwest Missouri. This work was undertaken to evaluate a nitrogen management system effect upon yield distribution and quality of smooth bromegrass (Bromus inermusLeyss) forage on a Sharpsburg silt loam (fine, montmorillonitic, mesic Typic Argiudoll) soil. The 1979–80 experiment included N treatments; zero, 67 kg N ha‐1(March), 67 kg N ha‐1(June), 134 kg N ha‐1(March), 134 kg N ha‐1(June), 134 kg N ha‐1(67 March plus 67 June) and 268 kg N ha‐1(134 March plus 134 June). Measurements include yield from 3‐cuttings, crude protein and IVDMD.

摘要:
A pot experiment was conducted to study the contribution of surface and subsurface layers of soil on wheat nutrition under fertilized and unfertilized conditions. Artificial columns of soils were used for this purpose. A column consisted of three layers of different soils, varying in their native P, and concomitant chemical and physical properties.
