摘要:
Investigations on the precipitation of Cd with a base show that anions strongly influence the chemical reactions of Cd. The composition of the precipitate is controlled by the presence and distribution of soluble complexes of Cd of different valencies with anions. At any given amount of added OH ions, the magnitude of Cd precipitated was determined by the presence of anions of the system.

摘要:
The dry matter yield and nitrogen content of marigold (Tagestes erecta), petunia(Petunia hybrida nana compacta)and forget‐me‐not(Myosotis alpestris)plants growing in a range of peat‐based container media amended with different proportions of either sand, perlite, pumice, sawdust, bark chips or soil were studied under glasshouse nursery conditions.

摘要:
Soil bulk densities were measured with respect to depth in a clay loam and sandy soil. Coefficients of variation for the clay loam and sand plot areas (400m2) ranged from 3–9 to 15.0% and from 2.3 to 10.7%, respectively. Each of 8 sampling sites on the clay loam soil displayed distinct characteristic bulk density profiles, each varying in shape and magnitude from the other sites. The bulk density profile distribution patterns obtained from 5 sampling sites on the sandy soil did not show a large degree of individual differences. The bulk density patterns were related to soil development characteristics.

摘要:
Samples of peanut plants from 5 selected villages of Ludhiana and Kapurthala (Punjab, India) were analysed for P, K, Ca, Mg, S, Zn, Cu, Mn and B. The dominant nutrient deficiencies were of B > K > S > Zn> P >Mn> Cu. Potassium and magnesium seem to interact antagonistically for their absorption. The inherent low status of nutrients in these soils appears to be the reason for their wide‐spread deficiency and consequent low yield of peanut crop.

摘要:
This study reports the relationship between N levels (22, 56 and 112 kg/ha) and its effect on yield and protein quality for five cultivars of soft winter wheat (Triticum aestivumL. em. Thell). The objective was to determine the relationship of amino acid content and total protein at various levels of N. The 56 and 112 kg N/ha rates resulted in higher wheat yields than the 22 kg N rate over the 3 yr. mean. A cultivar x N level interaction for yield occurred when certain cultivars did not respond to higher N rates in 1972. Total seed protein increased with each increase in If. Increasing N levels generally resulted in a higher amlno acid content of the seed. Cultivar effects were found for 6 of the 17 amino acids (threonine, serine, glutamic acid, proline, glycine and lysine) indicating that cultivars differed in total amino acid content. Cultivars Arthur and Holley gave the greatest response (percentage amino acid) to N application. Coker 68–8 was intermediate in response while Coker 68–15 and Blueboy showed small inconsistent responses to H application.

摘要:
More uniformity in methods of deriving fertilizer P recommendations from crop response data should improve accuracy and precision of fertilization rates. Experimental data that relate crop yields to soil test levels and describe the effect of fertilizer P on soil test levels provide the basis for determining fertilization rates for specific crop‐soil situations. A modification of the Mitscherlich equation was used in derivation of a new equation for calculating fertilizer P requirements as a function soil test levels of P. The equation was applied to response data for 4 crops.

摘要:
Effect of soil salinity on two cultivars (Mexi‐Pak and H‐68) of wheat (Triticum aestivum) was studied in a pot culture experiment. Straw and grain weight decreased with increasing salinity in both the cultivars but cv. Mexi‐Pak was comparatively more sensitive than cv. H‐68. The toxicity of salts was more prominant at the early growth stages. Height of plants at maturity was not affected. Nutrient contents generally decreased with the age of plants. Phosphorus and sodium increased while potassium and calcium generally decreased with salts.
