Increased confidence in conductimetric detection of salmonellas was achieved by combining a bacteriophage‐based test with use of a selenite cystine trimethylamine oxide dulcitol medium and a modified lysine decarboxylase broth. All 81Salmonellaisolates tested were detected and few of the 39 non‐salmonellas gave false positives. 摘要:
Four proprietary antiseptic creams were compared by a procedure designed to assess their bactericidal activity on human skin. The technique which employed the lower axillary margin as a test site, a 5 h contact period and bacterial sampling with alginate swabs, proved capable of demonstrating bactericidal effects and differences in product efficacy. Used in conjunction with testsin vitro, the technique can provide a useful basis upon which to compare and select antibacterial formulations for further evaluation and development.

Adenosine phosphosulphate reductase (APS reductase) (E.C.1.8.99.2), viable counts of sulphate‐reducing bacteria and rates of sulphate reduction were determined in 20 human samples of faeces. 摘要:
The effect of three systemic fungicides, tridemorph, fenpropimorph and fenarimol, on growth and aflatoxin production byAspergillus parasiticuswas studied in a chemically defined medium. Each compound inhibited growth and at the same time gave increased information of aflatoxin. Fenarimol, which is considered to be an inhibitor of cytochrome P450, not only affects total aflatoxin production but may also alter the ratio of aflatoxin B1 to G1 in the culture filtrate.
