摘要:
This paper reviews methods of constructing confidence intervals for parameters or other characteristics of the Weibull or extreme value distribution. The conditional method of obtaining confidence intervals is stressed, with emphasis on the flexibility of the method, and on the computations which are necessary to use it.

摘要:
D-optimal fractions of three-level factorial designs forpfactors are constructed for factorial effects models (2 ≤p≤ 4) and quadratic response surface models (2 ≤p≤ 5). These designs are generated using an exchange algorithm for maximizing |X′X| and an algorithm which produces D-optimal balanced array designs. The design properties for the DETMAX designs and the balanced array designs are tabulated. An example is given to illustrate the use of such designs.

摘要:
Mitchell and Bayne use an exchange algorithm to develop some new experimental designs in five and fewer factors. The properties of these designs are examined. While these designs have high D-efficiencies they are generally lower in G-efficiency than previously suggested designs, The need for good experimental practice is shown by examining the properties of the designs.

摘要:
Non-additivity may be present in only a few cells in an unreplicated, fixed effects,R×C. two-way table of data. When this is the case, it is wasteful and confusing to summarize the interaction as a mean square with (R− 1)(C− 1) degrees of freedom, or as set ofRCresiduals. When the disturbances of additivity are inG<R/2 rows and inH<C/2 columns, the expected values of the resulting residuals are in recognizable patterns which may suffice to spot and to estimate the disturbances,Dij. The largest residuals nearly always indicate the largest disturbances, but others of the same sign may be concealed in the same rows (or columns). The main result is the pair of equations:Dij=yij− yij′− yi′j+ yi′j′=rij− rij′− ri′j+ ri′j′. where yijis the mean of the (C−H) observations in row i but not in columns with disturbances: yi′jis the mean of the (R–G) observations in columns j but not in rows with disturbances: yi′j′is the mean of the (R−G)(C−H) observations not in the disturbed rows or columns: ther's are the usual residuals under the assumption of additive row- and column-effects. An example is given.

摘要:
Problems of multicollinearity in regression analysis are considered and numerical measures established to assess the extent of multicollinearity in a set of regression data with respect to parameter confidence regions and tests of hypotheses, the effective sample size, and predictability.

摘要:
An analogue of the Box-Hunter rotatability property for second order response surface designs inkindependent variables is presented. When such designs are used to estimate the first derivatives with respect to each independent variable the variance of the estimated derivative is a function of the coordinates of the point at which the derivative is evaluated and is also a function of the design. By choice of design it is possible to make this variance constant for all points equidistant from the design origin. This property is called slope-rotatability by analogy with the corresponding property for the variance of the estimated response, ŷ.
