Abstract:Twenty‐nine cases with the cavum septi pellucidi were examined by the brain X‐ray CT comparing with the reported cases of “Pellucidumsyndrom” in the previous literatures. As to the clinical diagnoses of the 29 cases with the cavum septi pellucidi, there is no specificity of the clinical disorder in relation to the cavum septi pellucidi. But one case had an extremely large cavum septi pellucidi showing various types of mental and neurological symptoms similar to the “Pellucidumsyndrom” described by Wilder. Abstract:We reported the case of a 13‐year‐old anorectic girl with epileptic seizures who showed marked favorable responsestosodium valproate and clonazepam. These two anticonvulsants were effective not only for controlling her epileptic seizures, but also against anorexia nervosa itself. 摘要:
Abstract:Sleep deprivation EEGs can help us in timing discontinuation of antiepileptic treatment of childhood epilepsy. After 3–5 seizure‐free years, a negative sleep deprivation EEG (i.e., the lack of any epileptiform potentials) is a good predictor of terminal remission of the seizures after cessation of the drug. In the drug‐free follow‐up period (in average 2 years) only 2/40 patients relapsed, 38/40 (= 95 percent) remained free of seizures. The results and limits of the study as well as the theoretical background are discussed

Abstract:A thirty‐year‐old housewife, who had been diagnosed as SLE, had been hyperkinetic and mute for 13 months after reiteration of manic‐depressive episodes. In this condition she waked around without aim, ate and drank only with nursing help, and could not understand the circumstances around her; she was incontinent of urine and feces. Abstract:The clinical pictures of a left temporal lobe astrocytoma involving the hippocampal region showed a period of 27 years from ages 12 to 38 by epileptic sehres and a period of 9 years from 14 to 22 by schizophrenia‐like symptoms and the following aggressive behavior during 16 years from ages 23 to 38. After a resection of the temporal lobe tumor sparing the hippocampus, transient delusions and aggressive behavior were observed. 摘要:
Abstract:Due to the recent advances in knowledge on the function of the limbic sys tem it would be wise to consider this system as being widely distributed throughout the diencephalic and mesencephalic levels as well as the forebrain. Numerous regions have been discovered that are related to the limbic structures in anatomical and functional respects. According to Koikegamiet al. (1967), it would be adequate to divide this system into two main categories–the major limbic rim or the structure proper and the paralimbic structures. The former defined phylogenetically and ontogenetically as those structures around the third ventricle such as: the hippocampus, septum, dentate gyrus, fimbria hippocampi, anterior and posterior cingulate gyri, area paraolfactoria, amygdala and Diagonal Band of Broca.The paralimbic structures may represent those brain regions, which have direct connections or functional correlations with the limbic formation proper. These areas include the posterior orbital gyrus, insula, nucleus accumbens, head of the caudate, nucleus habenula, nucleus interpendencularis, nucleus pulvinaris thalami, intralaminar and anterior thalamic nucleus, preoptic area, hypothalamic nuclei, mammillary body, snbthalamus, limbic midbrain area of Nauta, temporal lobe pole, superior temporal gyrus, praecuneus, nucleus dorsalis et profundis tegmenti of Gudden and claustrum.In the present paper we will deal with the projections of the nucleus accumbens. This nucleus was described by Meynert (1872) as the anterior polar region of the caudate nucleus. Kappers describes the nucleus accumbens in 1908 as the nucleus accumbens septi and considers it as a part of the striatum. Later on, the histological studies of Brochaus (1942) relate a part of the nucleus with olfactory functions, and he describes another part, which is very well developed in microsmatic mammals and in anosmic mammals like the dolphin. Szteyn (1960) describes two main areas, the accumbens septi and the accumbens caudate. Nevertheless, the accumbens constitutes a very important region of the paralimbic system and seems to play an important role in some behavioral pattern
