Abstract:We evaluated 46 patients with right hemisphere strokes for unilateral spatial neglect (USN), anosognosia, hemiasomatognosia, extinction, constructional disturbance, motor Impersistence organic mental syndrome. High correlations were found among the incidences of USN, anosognosia, hemiasomatognosia, extinction, motor impersistence constructional disturbance.USN, hemiasomatognosia, motor impersistence, constructional disturbance anosognosia tended to occur with large lesions. Organic personality syndrome was frequent (33%) was more often associated with USN, anosognosia, hemiasomatognosia, extinction, constructional disturbance motor impersistence than other psychiatric symptoms.

Abstract:Distributions of seven blood groups (ABO, MNSs, P, Rh, Duffy, Kidd and Xg) were studied in a total of 118 Japanese patients with affective disorders. Abstract:The authors administered 50–100pgof thyroxine (T,) alone for 2 weeks to 20 patients with primary major depressive disorders, evaluated clinical changes, compared the thyroid functions before after the trial.The results showed a significant decrease in the Hamilton Rating Scale scores, the efficacy of thyroid hormone alone was demonstrated against depression. It was also shown that this antidepressive effect varied widely from marked improvement to mild aggravation.The degree of clinical improvement had no significant relationship with sex, age, subtype of depression, severity of symptoms before treatment. But it had significant positive correlations with the pre‐trial T39T49T3uptake, free T, index BMR. That is, patients with a higher pre‐trial thyroid function showed a greater improvement. Abstract:A boy suffering from epileptic seizures experienced five episodes of a twilight state. His twilight states continued for at least two weeks, were characterized by behavioral disorders severe autonomic symptoms. Sometimes functional ileus was present. Abstract:We present here the clinical cases of identical twins with Graves' disease associated with various mental disorders. They showed restlessness, hyperexcitability, emotional instability, anxiety, depressive state, obsessive‐compulsive manifestations, delusions of persecution reference. In the case of twin A, the psychiatric symptoms Graves' disease were in parallel with their clinical course, his psychiatric symp toms disappeared after a subtotal thyroidectomy.In the case of twin B, however, the psychiatric symptoms had almost disappeared during the period of hypothyroidism for two months after a subtotal thyroidectomy, but the symptoms recurred in spite of the data of euthyroidism in blood examinations after that period of time.It was suggested that the psychiatric symptoms of twin B were due to the euthyroid Graves' disease. Abstract:We investigated the oligoclonal bands (OB) in CSF of patients with multiple sclerosis (MS), Guillain‐Barré syndrome (GBS) aseptic meningitis (AS) using poly‐acryamide or agarose isoelectric focusing following electroblofflng immunostaining for IgG, IgA, IgM light chains. OB staining for IgG was detected in 80% of patients with MS, 25% with GBS 13% with AS. OB staining for IgA IgM was not detected in any disease. Abstract:The F response was recorded from the 1st dorsal interosseous muscle (1st DI) two antagonistic muscles, the flexor digitorurn brevis (FDB) the extensor digitorum brevis (EDB), in 16 patients with Parkinson's disease 22 age‐matched normal controls. In Parkinson's disease, the F responses from the 1st DI the FDB occurred more frequently with a longer duration a greater number of phases in comparison with the normal controls. In addition, the coefficient of variation of onset latency was significantly smaller in Parkinson's disease. On the other hand, the F response recorded from the EDB showed the same tendency as that from the FDB, but not to a significant extent. These findings suggest that the excitability of the spinal motor neurons is enhanced in rigid parkinsoninn patients.
