摘要:
This article describes the Adult Career Education Counseling Project, a special demonstration project funded by the United States Office of Education, Division of Occupational and Adult Education. The major goal of the project is to develop a competency‐based individualized instructional training system for guidance personnel wanting to work in adult education settings. The article explains the rationale, development, and process used in identification of conceptual areas that were developed into modules currently being pilot tested prior to final revision. Once the total training system has been developed, adult education and counseling and guidance programs may use these materials to design a counseling and guidance program unique to local program or institutional goals and objective

摘要:
This study represents a systematic method of arriving at the cognitive and experiential training needs of the group counselor. Proposed behavioral objectives were rated and added to by experts in group counseling through a method of successive questionnaires—a modified Delphi technique. The ratings of the second questionnaire were used to analyze the value of the objectives and the agreement of the experts. The most highly rated cognitive and experiential objectives are presented in tabular for

摘要:
Three counselors identified as functioning at a low level on basic facilitative skills were paired with both a high‐ and a low‐level functioning client for three sessions. Functioning levels for both counselors and clients were determined by appropriate rating scales. The results indicated negative change in interpersonal functioning levels on the part of high‐level clients and no significant change on the part of low‐level

摘要:
The application of systems techniques to counselor education is explored as one means of improving theefficiencyand effectiveness of counselor education. The application of systems technology to counselor education is demonstrated by the use of the systems approach in the teaching of a basic counseling technique—the open‐end lead. The “Open‐end Lead Training Package” is presented to demonstrate the necessary developmental steps involved in the application of systems techniques to the teaching of a counseling skill. The developmental steps are (a) determine the training objective, (b) identify the tasks that will best meet the objective, (c) arrange the tasks in the most efficient and effective order, and (d) collect data that will verify or question the success of the training decisions that have been made. The strengths and weaknesses of systems techniques as applied to counselor education are

摘要:
The purpose of this study was to determine significant differences in the self‐ratings of counseling practicum students, their supervisor, and practicum assistants using the Counselor Evaluation Rating Scale (CERS). Subjects of the study were 25 master's degree students enrolled in practicum over three successive semesters at a southwestern university. A series of one‐way analyses of variance of responses to the rating scale were used to determine significant differences in the mean ratings among the three groups. Findings indicated significant differences for 9 of the 27 items on the instrument, with most of the differences attributed to the students' higher ratings and differences in ratings between students and practicum assista

摘要:
New techniques are being developed that enhance the effectiveness of psychological forces in controlling bodily reactions. Old oriental techniques of the same kind are being rediscovered by the Western world. All of them are powerful tools for the psychological control of pain. This article reviews such techniques and addresses itself to the contributions that counselors—as behavioral scientists and human relations experts—can make to alleviate physical pain, be it of organic or psychogenic or
