摘要:
The counselor training presentation by White Bird from Eugene, Oregon gives us a possible approach to counselor training both in individual and group leadership training in a free clinic. It presents a 10‐week series that is subject to change, but has been used as a beginning by a very dynamic group of men and women. It contains a training work sheet and a training progress shee

摘要:
Carniello describes how he went about setting up a dental component in a free clinic, including equipment needed, the physical space required, and how he managed to acquire supplies. The use of volunteers and the means of organizing a smooth and well functioning team are indicated. Specific dental problems that arose are presented, as well as treatment solutions. How a “straight” professional was influenced by the free clinic movement is descri

摘要:
Pollock helped to set up a laboratory in the Washington Free Clinic. She gives us the tests that the lab offers, the supplies needed to conduct them, the setting up of the lab facility. The on‐the‐job training that is required for lab technicians became more and more apparent as the lab grew in responsibilities; its importance is indicated. There are also suggestions as to how to keep a good filing system, the use of a nightly logbook and a culture logbook. Many hints are given to other labs to enable them to avoid some of the pitfalls that the WFC encounte

摘要:
Two physicians give an overview of the evolving drug pattern in Haight‐Ashbury, discussing phases of youthful drug use and what the present youthful abusers are like. Emergency medical care is presented in regard to marijuana freak‐outs, LSD over abuse, how to cope with speed freaks and barbiturate users, among others. A very detailed do's and don'ts section on pure heroin overdose (as well as mixed addictions overdose) is presen

摘要:
The importance of incorporation, the use of a board of trustees, and obtaining the proper tax exemption status are described from an attorney's vantage point, with the pro's and con's discussed and defined in layman's terms. The importance of appropriately dealing with runaways, the legal hassles to be avoided, as well as the use of the clergy, the judicial, and the police systems are outlined. Examples of documented statements are presented. The ramifications of prescribing birth control pills to minors, and the legal problems surrounding drug abuse treatment are clarified.

摘要:
The concept of staff burn‐out is explored in terms of the physical signs and the behavioral indicators. There is a discussion of how the cognitive, the judgmental as well as the emotional factors are intruded upon once the process is in motion. Further material deals with who is prone to staff burn‐out and what dedication and commitment can imply from both a positive and negative point of view. A practical section deals with what preventive measures a clinic staff can take to avoid burn‐out among themselves, and if unluckily it has taken place then what measures may be taken to insure caring for that person, and the possibility of his return to the clinic at some future

摘要:
How and what the clinic coordinator needs to do at any given moment during the course of an evening are described. Having to be aware of the personalities of the staff as well as those who come in for help, the need for good “vibes” and continued smooth flow are demonstrated and illustrated in detail. Further material deals with the importance of quality care of the patients, and the raising of all our consciousnesses. A very simple and detailed 12‐step system is shared of how and what a clinic coordinator needs to be aware of and responsible

摘要:
This is a report of a mobile medical care unit housed in a Winnebago camper model that goes out into the community, fully staffed and equipped for action. The 12 to 15 mile trip that the van makes each evening permits the staff an opportunity to get to where the young people are; they get close to the young people, offer rides, and find out “what's happening.” The use of the street worker, the nurse, the volunteer, and the philosophy of a patient advocacy system are thoroughly detailed. The description of practical aspects of the outreach components of such a clinic facility offers much to all who are in crisis intervention as well as community‐reach project ende
