摘要:
The effects of sera from uninephrectomized rats or sham-operated rats on the facilitation of 3H-thymidine incorporation into the cells were examined in the primary monolayer culture of rat renal cortical cells. At serum concentrations ranging from 0.25 to 5.0%, a significant and identical stimulation of the thymidine uptake was seen with both sera. The difference in facilitating the thymidine uptake between the sera from the uninephrectomized and sham-operated rats was significant at a serum concentration of 10%. The compensatory renal growth after uninephrectomy may not be due to the simple elevation of the growth factors that are present in the normal serum, but may be due to the renotropin induced by the reduced renal mass.

摘要:
To elucidate the nature of the iminoacidopathy in uremia, the prolidase and prolinase activities in erythrocytes from 36 normal subjects, 28 patients with chronic uremia, and 21 patients on maintenance hemodialysis were determined. A statistically significant decrease in the activities of both prolidase and prolinase was found in the uremic patients and the hemodialysis group. No difference has been observed in the enzyme activities in the pre- and postdialysis samples of the hemodialysis patients. It is suggested that decreased activities of prolidase and prolinase may contribute to the iminoacidopathy in uremia, including high contents of serum iminoacid containing peptides.

摘要:
From an electron-microscopic study in a case of diffuse membranous glomerulonephritis, we would like to propose a possible mechanism of hematuria in glomerular disease. There are several factors we should consider: (1) the deforming force of the red blood cell (RBC); (2) the deformability of the RBC; (3) the size of the gaps in the glomerular basement membrane (GBM), and (4) the thickness of the GBM. The deforming force is due to increased capillary pressure in the glomerulus that alters the contour of the RBCs. If these gaps are larger than 0.25 µm, the stretching and retracting force of the internal chamber of the GBM, combined with the capillary pulse, cause the deformed RBCs to pass through the gaps and proceed to the urinary space
