摘要:
AbstractSome of the interesting results obtained in the course of a large number of experiments carried out at IDL Chemicals Hyderabad are discussed in this paper:A linear correlation was found between underwater energies and Trauzl lead‐block values. The correlation of the total energy was found to be better than the correlation of shock and bubble energies individually.Variation of underwater energies with depth was observed. The shock energy decreased with depth and the bubble energy increased with depth, for three different types of explosives. The effect of firing explosives with and without boosters were studied. In the case of an aluminized slurry explosive there was a slight increase in shock energy and no change in the bubble energy, when initiated with boosters. In the case of a powder explosive, the shock energy was found to decrease by 15% and the bubble energy by 4.7%, when initiated with boosters. An attempt was made to study the statistical behaviour of underwater testing. The shock energy distribution appeared to be non‐normal. It indicated the possibility of the presence of two modes. The bubble energy distribution was normal and its variability was found to be very low. The total energy distribution was also non‐normal on account of shock energy distribution. The need for standardization of various testing parameters such as the depth of the charge, the distance between the charge and the transducer, the geometry of the cartridge and the type of initiation, to get repeatable and internationally comparable results, is discussed. There is a need to develop complementary theory and additional measurements (if possible) to make the system more complete and acceptable for measuring the strength of explo

摘要:
AbstractStandardized procedures for measurement and evaluation of data obtained in the underwater explosion test are needed to make possible comparisons of data obtained at different laboratories. In this paper specifications for the pressure gage and instrumentation as well as calibration and the use of a standard reference explosive are discussed. Evaluation standards for peak pressure, impulse, shock wave energy and bubble energy are suggested. A practical method for determination of the water shock energy lost when the primary shock travels from the charge to the gage is given, making it possible to determine the total expansion work performed by an explosive in an underwater explosion test. Performance predictions in rock blasting for explosives based on data obtained in the underwater explosion test are also discussed.

摘要:
AbstractThe generation of CO, NO and NO2in blasting with ANFO has been measured. Blasting experiments in a 200 m3rock chamber have been made with the charges confined in rock and in steel tubes. Comparison of the results shows that steel tube experiments can be used to approximately predict toxic gas generation in small diameter drill hole underground blasting. The paper describes the simple calibration and measurement techniques used. The effect of oil content in the ANFO and the effect of moisture on the walls of the chamber have been investigated.

摘要:

摘要:
AbstractThe paper presents a proposal concerning a standard‐comparative test for permissible explosives used in various countries. Testing the explosives in a suspended charge or in various arrangements of the angle mortar with the reflective wall in an explosive methane/air mixture would create possibility of evaluating the behavior of permissible explosives under these model conditions and thus bringing valuable information not only for the present needs but also for the future developmen

摘要:
AbstractRequirements are discussed which must be fulfilled by laboratory and field tests in methane und coal dust before an explosive is permitted for use in mine. Based on results of explosive testing done in recent years in Poland and on results of our continual research, basic differences were found in the ignition ability of methane and coal dust. The differences were also found in laboratory tests using steel mortars which simulate boreholes, and in field tests in underground roadways. With respect to these findings the safety of mining explosives in methane and coal dust and their applicability in the mining practice are discussed.

摘要:
AbstractThis paper presents an analysis of the relationship between oxygen balance, inert content, computed detonation parameters and incendivity for several watergel explosives. A mathematical technique has been developed for correlating compositional details and the permissibility test results for a number of existing compositions. The analysis covers two types of explosive compositions and three categories of permissibility tests. Using energy of detonation, oxygen balance, and percentage of water and sodium chloride in the composition, this technique is able to consistently predict the permissibility test result with less than 10% exceptions. It is felt that this method will facilitate the design of new explosive formulations which have a high probability of success in permissibility tests.
