摘要:
AbstractThe heat of fusion for DNNC (1,3,5,5‐tetranitrohexahydropyrimidine) and its DNNC‐d6analogue compound have been determined using differential scanning calorimetry analysis. No significant difference in the DNNC and DNNC‐d6heat of fusion values was detected at the 95 and 99 percent student t confidence levels. Melting points were also determined for the subject compounds using this analysis technique. These melting points are compared to literature values obtained by conventional me

摘要:
AbstractThe significant expenditures for organic synthesis of high‐energy materials necessitate an a priori evaluation of prospects for physical‐chemical parameters. The most important of these parameters is the heat of formation characterizing this or the other compound suggested for synthesis. This study describes and analyzes the most well‐known and widely used schemes and methods for evaluating and predicting the energy capacity of high‐energetic materials. The accuracy of calculations is evaluated for different schemes; the limits of their applicability are det

摘要:
AbstractThrough the analysis and calculation to the flow field in the solid rocket motor using high‐burning‐rate propellant, the authors believe that the existence of pressure difference between the inside and outside of the propellant tube causes the propellant crack. In this paper, the design method to eliminate the pressure difference is discussed. The theoretical results were certified by the experimental resu

摘要:
AbstractThis paper describes the experimental setup for evaluation of pyrotechnic smoke compositions for anti‐laser and anti‐infrared roles using the continuous wave 10.6 μm CO2laser (4 watt) and presents the results for a few pyrotechnic smoke compositions. The particle sizes of the aerosol from pyrotechnic smoke compositions were also determined using Quartz crystal Microbalance ‐ Cascade Impactor. Two smoke compositions containing hexachloroethane, anthracene/naphthalenee, potassium perchlorate and magnesium powder showed more than 97% attenuation of CO2laser, whereas a composition containing zinc oxide, aluminium, iron oxide along with hexachlorocthane was least eff

摘要:

摘要:
AbstractThis paper describes work done to study the potential hazards of glycidyl azide polymer (GAP) based formulations. Friction and drop weight tests were performed on various GAP propellants, GAP mixed with different ingredients, and at different steps during processing of a propellant mix. The results showed that, under certain conditions, GAP formulations can be highly friction and impact sensitive.

摘要:
AbstractThermo‐oxidative degradation of hydroxy‐terminated polybutadiene (HTPB) and poly(butadiene‐acrylonitrile‐acrylic acid) terpolymer (PBAN) binders was studied in the presence of varying amounts of ammonium perchlorate (AP). It was found that the effect of AP on the nature and composition of the pyrolyzates was similar to the effect of increase in pyrolysis temperature. Activation energy for thermal degradation was found to be about 52 kJ/mol for both the polymers. The results are discussed in terms of a linear pyrolysi

摘要:
AbstractA modified manometric vacuum stability test (MVST) apparatus as well as a differential thermal analyzer (DTA) and a thermogravimetric analyzer (TGA) were used to study thermal decomposition of a series of propellants. The solid propellants contained polycaprolactone (PCP) prepolymer or PCP‐HTPB copolymer as binder, ammonium perchlorate (AP) and a nitramine (RDX or HMX) as oxidants, aluminum as fuel, and bis(2,2‐dinitropropyl)acetal/formal (BDNPA/F) as plasticizer. The mixtures were cured with an isocyanate (Desmodur N‐100). It is found from MVST examinations that propellants containing PCP polymer are more stable than ones containing PCP‐HTPB copolymer. The PCP propellants were still stable after 40 hours heating at 135°C. The thermal decomposition reactions of prepared propellants during dynamic heating were indicated by two major stages of weight loss in the TG

摘要:
AbstractThe concept of programmed splitting of stick propellants offers a new method in controlling pressure‐time traces by increasing the burning surface area at the onset of splitting. This increase in burning surface area, also referred to as progressivity, leads to a higher performance of existing guns. The experimental work on combustion of programmed splitting stick (PSS) propellants in parallel to the present theoretical study was conducted and published by the authors. In this investigation, a theoretical model and computer code have been developed to simulate the burning and splitting processes of PSS charges and to gain a better understanding of physico‐chemical phenomena involved. In this theoretical model, the continuous gas phase is treated by a Eulerian approach, while the condensed phase (stick propellant) is divided into several representative groups and tracked as they move in the continuous phase, using a Lagrangian approach. The intergranular gas‐phase region is treated in a way similar to the continuous phase in the separated flow models for spray combustion. Numerical results are in agreement with experimental data, and can predict several features of the combustion processes that have been observed in partially burned grains recovered from test fi
