AbstractThis study identifies and measures effects of household socioeconomic characteristics on consumption for broiler meat based on the 1977–1978 USDA NFCS data. Using the results of the statistical model with census projections of population, a microanalytic simulation procedure was developed for estimating broiler meat consumption among spatially delineated geographic areas. The procedure was designed to capture the specific distributional effects of population characteristics on market consumption estimates. AbstractTalent assessment is a critical element in agribusiness success. Unless the correct people are identified and rewarded with promotion and other organizational rewards, organizational motivation and leadership will wane. A new efficient and effective talent assessment method called Team Evaluation has been developed by leading agribusiness firms and provides advantages not available with traditional procedures. The Team Evaluation process enhances the firm's information about people. When added to the existing supervisory assessment procedures. Management Systems (MS), the combination of the TE + MS upgrades the quality of human resource decisions, improves rewards equity and the link between pay and performance.

AbstractA random sample of Ohio farm operators was surveyed about the revenue they earned from selling seed to farmers. Approximately 15% of the survey respondents reported selling seed to farmers. For most respondents who sold seed the seed dealership was not an important source of income. However, some sold substantial amounts. AbstractGrowth of sales and assets of large cooperative and proprietary firms in five food industries from 1975 to 1980 were analyzed. Models of firm growth were estimated using data from 32 cooperatives and 35 proprietary corporations. The seven factors included in the model affect the growth of cooperatives and proprietary firms similarly but fail to account for the more rapid growth achieved by cooperatives during the period studied.

AbstractThe Japanese–US beef trade issues are discussed and a proposal put forth to feed cattle for 240 days in order to achieve higher quality grades and prices for US beef exported to Japan. Contrary to popular opinion. US grain‐fed beef is not considered higher in quality than chilled grass‐fed beef from Australia in the Japanese market because the Japanese quality grading system places much greater emphasis on marbling.
