摘要:
The possibility of producing heavy oil from the Nigerian tar sand deposit by steam stimulation was investigated in the laboratory using a scaled and five unseated physical models (tar sands packs). The effect of oil saturation and different matrix grain size on oil recovery were also studied.

摘要:
Pilot studies on solvent and steam injection were conducted in the heavy-oil Usa oil field (Permo-Carboniferons, fractured, porous-cavernous carbonate reservoir). The results of this study, which may help in developing efficiently high-viscosity oil accumulations, are presented. Delineating the high-permeability zones was important in choosing location of injection and producing wells. Detailed knowledge of reservoir characteristics (e.g.,fracture density, distribution, and orientation) is of utmost importance.

摘要:
Deposition of complex and heavy organic compounds which exist in petroleum crude can cause a number of severe problems. To prevent deposition inside the reservoir, in the well head, and inside the transmission lines it is necessary to be able to predict the onset and amount of deposition due to various factors. In the present paper the basic mechanisms of organic deposition are described based on two different microscopic theories; and their predictive capabilities are discussed. These models are the continuous thermodynamic (CT) model and the steric colloidal (SC)model. Utilization of kinetic theory of aggregation enables one to develop a fractal aggregation (FA) model which combines the ideas of the two proposed CT and SC models. The FA model is capable of describing several situations, such as the phenomena of organic deposition, growing mechanism of heavy organic aggregates, the geometrical aspects of aggregates, the size distributions of precipitated organics, and the solubility of heavy organics in an oil under the influence of miscible solvents.

摘要:
The relationships between electrification of energy supply, electricity intensity, and economic performance of the United States and 13 other members of the Organization of Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) are reexamined to gain a better understanding of their historical development and likely future trends. The close agreement in the average and marginal electricity intensities of mature industrial economies with similar energy supply mixes suggests that in excess of I kWh, and possibly as much as 2 kWh, of additional electricity supply will be needed by the U.S. economy for every 1972 dollar of incremental GNP for the foreseeable future and that the share of primary energy consumption converted to electricity and the percentage of electricity in the energy supply mix will continue to rise. In addition, technical and institutional options to enhance the positive impact of electrification on economic growth and productivity are examined within the framework of a least-cost energy service strategy.
