The characteristics of hydrocarbon generation are studied on the basis of abundant information derived from temperature-programmed thermal simulation experiments on three kerogen samples of three representative types. The hydrocarbon yields at different simulation temperature intervals indicate good agreement of kerogen thermal simulation with natural thermal evolution processes. It is pointed out that more than two-thirds, or even four-fifths, of the total hydrocarbons are generated during and after the peak hydrocarbon generation stage. Therefore, it is suggested that when source rock evaluations are to be conducted, more attention should be paid to the study of peak generation stage development, in addition to the determination of hydrocarbon maturation thresholds. The variation in the composition of different hydrocarbons at different temperature intervals is also studied, and a series of very significant regularities are found in the process of hydrocarbon generation from kerogen.

摘要:
The flow of lignite-water slurry through a 2-in. pipe was investigated over a wide range of flow rates and solid concentrations. The pressure drop data gathered were compared with various correlations. In general, the simpler correlations were found to be less accurate than the more elaborate models. The Gasseler model was found to fit our data best, with the optimum value of the parameter β* = 0.243. The widely used Durand correlation as well as the Newitt model also performed satisfactorily without parameter adjustments.

Interrelationships among various properties of carbonate reservoir rocks are presented here. Properties include porosity (intercommunicating and effective), permeability (effective and absolute), bulk density, specific surface area, median pore size, and residual water saturation. Sonic velocity (and permeability) parallel to the bedding and perpendicular to the bedding are also compared.

摘要:
The porosity of dolomitized carbonate rocks can sometimes be determined from the matrix grain density of drill chips. This is shown for the Asmari Limestone of Iran. In this case, the grain specific gravity of 2.87 corresponds to a porosity of about 13%.
