The County of Berkshire occupies a central position in southern England. It is bounded hy Oxfordshire and Buckinghamshire on the north, by Hamsphire and Surrey on the south and east, by Wiltshire on the west and, for a few miles only, by Gloucestershire in the north‐west. It is a small county and yet few other counties ean show such a diversity of farming from one district to another.
