摘要:
A single fixed bed pollutant adsorber can be operated cyclically by synchronizing the change of the direction of the gaseous flow with the change of the temperature in the bed. The pollutant is adsorbed at a temperature lower than that at which it is desorbed. The desorbed pollutant is then burned and disposed of.

摘要:
Reverse osmosis separation behavior of some metal salts of Cu2+, Ni2+, Fe3+, and A13+have been studied. The cellulose acetate membranes used were characterized in terms of pure water permeability constant, solute transport parameter, and mass transfer coefficient with a reference system of aqueous sodium chloride solution. The importance of the chemical species present in solution and its effect on the degree of separation has been illustrated. Correlation between the percent solute separation and the equilibrium constant for the formation of ion-pairs in solution has been established. Reverse osmosis treatment has been applied to an acid mine-water solution, and the suitability of this process is discussed.

摘要:
The applicability of adsorption chromatography on Sephadex G-10 to the preparative purification of the salts of several mixtures of diastereomeric carboxylic acids as well as the reaction mixture from the photolysis of sorbic acid was investigated. All mixtures were separated, apparently on the basis of relative hydrophobicities of the components, demonstrating the versatility of the method for purifying water-soluble organic compounds.

摘要:
Efficient analytical separation and an estimation of the microgram quantities of silver present in various alloys and minerals have been made possible by the Weisz ring-oven technique in combination with the nonsophisticated nondestructive technique of electrographic sampling. Silver is fixed selectively with IH-benzotriazole after masking interfering ions with EDTA or tartarate, and then it is estimated using FTC as a chromogenic spray reagent because the chelate of silver ions with 1,2,3-benzotriazole is white.

By the use of a permeable, but immiscible, liquid layer in a liquid thermal diffusion column, it is possible to reduce remixing effects and hence improve separation. The technique is illustrated by using water as the permeable layer in the separation of benzene and carbon tetrachloride.
