摘要:
We have measured the yields of 90 keV40Ar+and V4He+sputtering of Mo and V samples by the use of a new radio-tracer technique. This technique involves activating the samples by high-energy charged-particle irradiation before sputtering, and using conventional γ-ray counting methods to analyze the material subsequently sputtered onto collector foils. We have also measured angular distributions of the sputtered material, and compared these results and our total sputtering yields with the predictions of Sigmund's sputtering theory. Further comparisons between our radiotracer results and those obtained for40Ar+sputtering of unactivated Mo and V samples, determined from elastic backscattering measurements using 12 MeV16O ions, show that the techniques give consistent results.

摘要:
The studies regarding the annealing properties of a pre-irradiation annealed Makrofol N track detector showed that under “moderate annealing conditions”, the maximum etched track length lmax, can be increased. The increase becomes maximum at pre- and post-irradiation annealing temperatures of 80°C and 60°C respectively.

摘要:
The effects of γ radiation on glycylglycine, triglycine, and polyglycine have been studied using ESR spectroscopy. The radiation exposures have been performed under vacuum at room temperature. All those irradiated substances show a doublet absorption signal often ascribed to a radical formed on the α carbon of the peptide chain. The magnetic susceptibility has been found to depend on temperature according to the Curie-Weiss law. The radio-sensitivity parameterGr, the hyperfine splitting constantAhand the spectroscopic factorgnave been determinated as well as which is the temperature corresponding to the Curie temperature of the irradiated substance. The results onCr, andAhfor all peptides studied here agree with the assumption of radiation induced free radicals located at the α carbon of the peptide chain, leading to conclude that the degree of delocalization of the unpaired electron increases for increasing number of glycine units in the peptide. Finally, from negative values obtained, a conclusion has been reached on the antiferromagnetic nature of the interaction between unpaired spins.

摘要:
Encapsulated and unencapsulated CdS/Cu2S thin film solar cells have been irradiated with monoenergetic electrons having energies in the range 100–425 keV. The current-voltage characteristics of the solar cells have been analysed in terms of a five parameter model. A study has been made of the way in which these parameters (andIg,Vocand cell efficiency) depended on energy and fluence of the electron beam. The degradations of the encapsulated cells have been shown to be due mainly to the darkening of the Mylar encapsulant. A mechanism for the reduction of the open circuit voltage (Voc) on irradiation under high and low electron fluences has been proposed.

摘要:

摘要:
The isochronal annealing of self-ion damage in gold, introduced at room temperature, was measured by the channeling-backscattering method. The results are compared with those obtained from transmission-electron microscope (TEM) observations on similar specimens. The temperature for the annealing stage was found to be 250°C, which agrees with the TEM results.

摘要:
A computer simulation model was used to investigate the planar dechanneling of MeV ions in diatomic diamond-type lattices. For planes consisting of an equal mixture of both atomic types, such as the (110) planes, results conform closely to those found for monatomic lattices. However, for planar directions, such as the (100), where the alternate planes consist solely of one type of atom, the dechanneling process must be analyzed in terms of the continuum potential asymmetry.

摘要:
In this paper we consider in detail the effects of trajectory-dependent electron multiple scattering on planar de-channeling. The most important consequence of reducing the electron multiple scattering of the well channeled ions is to introduce a deeply penetrating tail in the dechanneling curve. This tail is more pronounced at low temperatures when the effect of nuclear multiple scattering is minimized. In the case of planar dechanneling this effect will only have a minor effect on the calculated half lengthx½and the initial dechanneling in the depth region from the surface tox½.

摘要:
The behaviour of rare gases in metals has been studied quite frequently : n the past. The migration of the rare gas atoms was shown to be a very complex phenomenon, which could satisfactorily be described in a system of release stages1similar to the recovery stages in quenched or irradiated metals. The most studied metal is probably silver2,3but Cu4–11and Pt4, 12–14have also been investigated. It is the purpose of the present note to communicate some new results for Cu and Pt, and to indicate some common features of the three metals.
