摘要:
It has been previously established that it is necessary to keep single targets of Ge and Si above a certain critical temperatureTabefore one can obtain an ejection pattern indicative of surface order. In the following work, we report on the dependence of the disorder to order transition temperature,Taon the incident ion mass, the dose rate and the crystallography of the target. The disorder to order transition temperature,Tahas been measured for 5, 10 and 15 keV Ar+, K+and Ne+bombardment of (111), (110) and (100) Ge, using the sputtered atom ejection pattern to indicate the restitution of order. The dose rate dependence of the transition temperature,Ta, was used to calculate activation energies for the transition occurring.

摘要:
An apparatus is described for measuring internal friction and elasticity modulus during low temperature electron irradiation. This cryostat is well adapted for dislocation pinning experiments. Its main advantages are: facility of isochronal thermal pulses, homogeneity of the point defect density created during irradiation, good evaluation of the mechanical deformation in the specimen.

摘要:
Integro-differential equations are derived which govern the spatial distribution of ions of energyE' moving in a solid target after the ions were incident on the target surface with energyE. These equations are specialized to integral equations which govern the first and second spatial moments of the distribution. Solutions to the moments equations are obtained to second order for an expansion of the integrands in powers ofT, the energy transfer in a single collision between an ion and an atom (or electron) of the target. Similar equations are also derived for the average range along path of the ions at energyE'.

摘要:
A supercollimated beam of 4 MeV H−ions with an angular spread of 1.5 × 10−3degrees, a diameter of 25 μ and a current of 10 picoamps was used to study the axial and planar channeling characteristics of single crystal silicon samples ranging in thickness from 0.5 to 1.0 μ. Since the angular spread of the beam is much smaller than most of the gross angular phenomena associated with channeling, it is possible to study the detailed characteristics of both planar and axial channeling with greater precision than before. Preliminary results indicate that this technique will allow a direct study of interatomic or continuum potential distributions and will also be useful for studying nuclear multiple scattering as a function of the tranverse energy of channeled particles relative to atomic rows and planar directions.

摘要:
This paper describes the results of irradiation of specimens of copper and copper containing up to 2 at % beryllium in the high-voltage electron microscope. The results of irradiation at temperatures ranging from 20–500 K are described and discussed in the light of recently proposed theories of defect nucleation. Although the results are difficult to interpret because of the many diverse factors which influence the nucleation and growth of the damage it was found that the values for the volume density of defects were in general agreement with the predictions, if the effects of the foil surfaces were taken into account.
