摘要:
Rutile single crystals (TiO2) have been implanted with heavy metallic particles in the energy range 0.3 MeV, 56 MeV. Optical measurements have been performed during implantation. Conductivity and Rutherford backscattering measurements have been made on as-implanted samples and after thermal treatments.

摘要:
The fatigue-life of low carbon steel was found to be significantly enhanced following implantation of 150 keV N+2. The observed lifetimes were found to be dependent on the thermal history of the samples.

摘要:
The sliding-wear rate of stainless steel wear couples has been found to be significantly reduced by the implantation of selected ion species. The relative wear rate has been measured for different combinations of unimplanted and implanted contacting surfaces.

摘要:
Implantation into metals at room and lower temperatures can produce metastable phases. Substitutional and interstitial solid solutions have been formed at low concentrations (≲1 at. %) in Be, Fe, Ni and Cu. At higher concentrations (≳10 at. %) both metastable solid solutions and amorphous alloys have been formed by implantation in Fe, Ni and Cu.

摘要:
The optical absorption band induced by energetic heavy ions implanted into AgCl single crystals at 77°K must be connected with the formation of silver colloids. The experimental (primitization and E.P.R. spectra) and theoretical study, makes it possible to obtain an approximate value of cluster radius. The colloid concentration is correlated with nuclear stopping power. It is shown that the collision efficiency is modified by a chemical effect. Finally the conditions of cluster formation are analysed.

摘要:
The thermal evolution of an ion-implanted alloy from the initial metastable state toward thermodynamic equilibrium is discussed. Three temperature regimes, distinguished by the mobilities of interstitial and substitutional atomic species, are considered, and emphasis is given to properties unique to the implantation environment. By monitoring the thermal evolution of such systems, basic new information may be obtained on alloying processes in metals. This approach is exemplified by an investigation of the diffusion and trapping of the embrittling impurity Sb in Fe-Ti-C alloys.
