摘要:
Gamma-radiolysis of neutral aqueous solutions of tartar-emetic has been studied. e−aqand H atom, and not OH radicals, have been shown to be responsible for i t s radiolytic degradation. Initially, on irradiation, a precipitate of Antimony trihydroxide is found with GOSb(III)= 0.51; post-irradiation effects involve a redissolution of this precipitate and G∞−sb(III)was found to be zero. Prolonged absorption of high doses, however, results in the precipitation of metallic Antimony.

摘要:
The dependence of the sputtering yield and efficiency on the angle of incidence has been calculated using exact methods for treating half-space problems. The yield is found to increase with angle of incidence and to pass through a maximum value around 80°–85°. The efficiency increases monotonically with angle of incidence and does not exhibit a maximum except at 90°. The results which are for self-sputtering and employ hard-sphere scattering agree qualitatively with experimental results.

摘要:
We have derived a simple empirical formula for sputtering yields of monatomic metals and semiconductors, taking the threshold effect for knock-on of atoms into account in the Sigmund theory. It is found that this semi-empirical formula fits to the energy dependence of the sputtering yields over a wide range of ion-target combinations. The best fit values of the parameters for the formula are given as a function of the ratio of the mass of target atoms and the mass of incident ions.

摘要:
A fission track analysis has been used to determine uranium abundances in certain Himalayan plant species. Lexan polycarbonate detectors have been used to register the tracks made by fragments from thermal neutron induced fission of uranium. The results show that the plants possess a low content of uranium by comparison with that found in minerals, and in fossil bones from the same orogeny.

摘要:
Ion bombardment of vacuum-deposited Cu specimens results in a preferential orientation of {110} planes parallel to the surface plane of the specimen. The effect is shown to be dependent on the direction of the incident beam with respect to the surface plane of the specimen. This evidence suggests a channelling mechanism to explain the origin of the effect.
