摘要:
The behaviour of radiation-induced defects in a crystal subsequent to the production of a dynamic cascade is theoretically investigated. The number of “surviving” point defects and clustered defects is calculated.

摘要:
Radíatíon annealing due to a 1.0 MeV election beam of intensity 25 μA/cm2was studied in silicon samples implanted with phosphorus and boron ions and annealed at 350–500°C. A significant annealing enhancement as compared to thermal annealing has been observed in phosphorus-implanted samples. In boron-implanted samples, a fast initial rise of electrical activity is followed by a continuous decrease of carrier concentration. The results are interpreted in terms of two competing processes: electron irradiation induced removal of post-implantation defects and introduction of simple electrically active defects.

摘要:
In this work the apparent decrease of radical yield in irradiated dry glycine at very high doses of radiation is interpreted as an effect of measurement inaccuracy due to the spatially inhomogeneous distribution of the radicals and to the presence of a mixture of different types of radical species.

摘要:
The distribution of irradiation-produced defects in thin foils of steel and aluminium is calculated using Brailsford and Bullough's rate theory of swelling plus appropriate boundary conditions. The dependence of the void denuded zone on temperature, dose, radiation damage rate and sink strength is studied. The width of this zone is found to be inversely proportional to the sink strength and damage rate. For a uniform initial distribution of loops and void embryos the loop denuded zone is much smaller than the void denuded zone. Also, a swelling enhancement adjacent to the void denuded zone is predicted under some initial conditions.

摘要:
A computer simulation of the transmission of 20 MeV electrons through a (001) MgO single crystal was performed. The calculation model represents a combination of the usual Monte Carlo simulation of projectile transmission through a heterogeneous absorber and the binary collision model of trajectory tracing. The dependence on the penetration depth of electrons moving within the limits of separate Seitz unit cells was obtained. The influence of electron-electron scattering for such projectiles was studied in comparison with that of thermal lattice vibrations. The boundaries of the occupied phase space of transverse energies and angular momenta for the swift electrons motion along the atomic strings were determined.

摘要:
Variation of density with etching time at different annealing temperatures has been studied. It has been found that a plot of annealingvs.etching time is a straight line. The relation between density reduction and length shrinkage is not exactly linear.

摘要:
A study of the radiation induced decomposition of the B-group vitamins has been carried out in aqueous media at room temperature as well as in rigid matrices at low temperature. The detailed results on the effect of glucose and oxygen as protective additives at the different temperatures are presented in the case of Thiamine (Vitamin B1). Comparative data are given on the extent of decomposition of this and other vitamins of the B-group at room temperature and at 193 K. The importance of these results in connection with the radiation sterilization of pharmaceutical preparations is indicated.

摘要:
Cold-pressed pellets of unfired BeO, called Thermalox 995, have been fired at temperatures between 400° and 1900°C. The thermally stimulated exoelectron emission (TSEE), thermoluminescence (TL), and electron paramagnetism (EPR) have been measured and correlated with sintering and grain growth. Changes in TL and TSEE sensitivity are as much as five, and two and a half orders in magnitude, respectively. The changes in concentration of the paramagnetic trapping centers correlate fairly well with the changes in TL sensitivity showing that the two are intimately related. The TSEE data show a markedly different trend; the traps are of a different type from those producing TL and are not detected by EPR.

摘要:
The low-field Hall coefficient R0of irradiated aluminium at 4.6 K is independent of the Frenkel defect (FD) concentration, however sensitively dependent of their configuration. Since measurement of R0is not too difficult, rather extensive investigations of FD clustering during irradiation can be performed, but only qualitative interpretations are possible. We have irradiated several pure Al samples with reactor neutrons at 4.6 K up to very high dosestresp. resistivity increments Δρ0(maximum 91% of extrapolated saturation value Δρ0sat≈ 980 nΩcm). Our main results are:
