摘要:
The ion-electron emission (IEE) coefficient γ of the (111) face of a Ge single crystal after irradiation with Ar+, Kr+and N2+has been studied over a broad energy range. It has been determined that at temperatures near toTathe annealing of radiation damage which affects, to a great extent, the transparency of channels and at lower temperatures leads to surface layer amorphization takes place.Tavalues for all investigated ions have been determined. Sharp changes of γ in a narrow temperature range ofTa± ΔTare observed to be followed by continuous falling of γ for all angles of bombardment. We relate this falling with the subsequent annealing of remaining structure damage influencing conditions of electron escape from the crystal. At temperatures of the order of 600°C the γ(T) curves for all bombardment angles and all ions studied reach the plateau apparently caused by full or very fast annealing of all radiation damage at this temperatures.

摘要:
In the γ-radiolysis of aqueous solutions of indole-3-acetic acid (IAA), G(-IAA) was found to decrease with the absorbed dose in aerated and deoxygenated solutions. In the presence of OH radical scavengers, G(-IAA) was not negligible indicating thereby that OH radicals alone are not responsible for IAA decomposition as had been postulated earlier. Radiolytic products of IAA are mainly indole derivatives with some of their properties similar to those of IAA. The uv spectra of irradiated IAA solutions showed a very interesting behaviour in that three isobestic points were observed and absorption at 245 nm showed an increase with increasing dose. RFvalues, colour reactions and spectral characteristics of some of the products are presented.

摘要:
Time dependent electrical resistivity changes at low temperature in fast-neutron irradiated CdS have been studied. The experiments were on low-resistivity single crystals, and the electrical changes result from radioactive decay effects induced by the fast-neutron irradiation. Results show that following neutron irradiation and upon lowering the sample temperature, the resistivity decreases with time and approaches a stable value. These effects are attributed to trapping phenomena, and can be erased by increasing the temperature. The time dependent electrical changes associated with radioactive decay provide a new means for neutron detection.

摘要:
Using a Monte-Carlo numerical technique, scattering coefficients, energy spectra, project range distributions, and damage distributions have been calculated for H-Nb scattering over a reduced energy range 1 < ϵ0< 10. A limited number of D and He scattering cases are also considered. The numerical calculations are compared to the Weissmann and Sigmund integro-differential equation solutions for range and damage. In general, the results are in quantitative agreement with the third order Edgeworth expansion solution. However, corrections due to the free surface effect are found to be important for both scattering and damage. The Monte-Carlo calculations are also used to interpret recent sputtering results for H, D, and He incident on Nb.

摘要:
Helium andargon ions in the energy range 100 to 1400 eV and at doses varying from 1012to 1015ions/cm2were implanted in a 304L stainless steel sample. Following implantation a linear temperature increase of the sample caused the gases to be released. The thermal release rates were studied as a function of ion dose and energy. The maxima observed in the thermal release rates are used to determine activation energies for thermally activated processes occurring in the metal. A rapid increase in the CO release rate coincident with the highest temperature He re-emission maximum indicates that the same mechanism is responsible for the release of both CO and He. It is suggested that the transport mechanisms revealed here are important in controlling void formations in neutron irradiated metals.

摘要:
Electron irradiation damage in quartz has been studied by transmission dectron microscopy as a function of accelerating voltage from 50650 kV at room temperature. Black spot damage was observed at all voltages, the damage rate being faster at higher accelerating voltages. In the voltage range 50-100 kV, black spots grew in size with time until they became resolvable as dislocation loops. However, in the higher voltage range, 350-650 kV, they were not clearly resolvable as dislocation loops Additional irradiation at all voltages gradually induced a crystalline-to-amorphous transition when the irradiated area became featureless and the crystalline diffraction pattern was replaced by amorphous rings. It was observed that the dose required for the transformation increased approximately linearly with increasing accelerating voltage. These results are discussed in terms of displacement damage and ionization damage processes.

摘要:
The steady-state distribution of mobile point defects in a monatomic solid under irradiation has been calculated for a semi-infinite solid and for a foil. The calculation was performed for defect annihilation by mutual recombination, at internal sinks, and by diffusion to the surface. Simple approximations, accurate to within 5%, have been developed for the analytical solutions to the differential rate equations.

摘要:
In connection with the radiolysis of aqueous nitric acid it has been reported that the reaction of OH radical with sulphanilamide (SA) is faster than that with isopropyl alcohol1. In the present communication a method is described based on the competing reactions of Fe(CN)−46and SA for OH radical to determine the rate constant for the reaction of SA with OH radical.
