摘要:
The gridded ion chamber developed at CBNM provides a powerful tool for measurements of fission fragment angular, kinetic energy and mass distributions with an angular efficiency close to 4π. In the present experiment it is used together with a neutron time-of-flight detector to measure the correlation between neutron emission, fragment angle, mass and energy in the spontaneous fission of252Cf.

摘要:
Fragment mass and kinetic energy distribution, measured by time of flight method, in cold fission of U-233, U-235, and Pu-239, are interpreted by a static scission model. Coulomb and shell effects play a decisive role in scission configurations. Absence of odd-even effects is assumed to indicate that there is at least one nucleon pair broken in every fragmentation.

摘要:
Angular distributions of fission fragments produced in the232Th(n, f) reaction have been measured in 40-keV intervals. A simplified reaction model was adopted, and a channel analysis doneor 0.72 ≤ En(MeV) ≤ 4.5 MeV. An anomaly at En= 2.98 MeV suggests that K remains a good quantum number some 2 MeV above the fission threshold. The percentage contribution to the cross section of K = 3/2 states for incident neutron energies between 1.1 and 1.3 MeV is larger than previously thought.

The post-neutron absolute mass yields of 35 products from 23 mass chains for232U(nth, f) have been determined by γ-ray spectroscopy. The resulting mass distribution for232U is compared with the corresponding existing data on233U and235U.

The existence of even-odd charge effects (fine structure) in ν(A) for252Cf(sf) has been confirmed. The fine structure is seen to increase in amplitude as the fragment excitation energy decreases, a behaviour similar to that of the mass yield curve.

摘要:
The proton odd-even effect in fission charge distribution yields is shown to be the quantum mechanical fragmentation process, arising due to shell effects in adiabatic potential and structure of adiabatic cranking masses. Additional contribution is shown to come from the coupling of relative motion to charge fragmentation coordinate, that is solved analytically. The dynamics occur near the top of barrier, just past saddle shape.

The (γ, f) and (γ, n) cross-sections and the mean numbervof neutrons per fission have been measured for232Th and238U between 5 and 10 MeV. A new method of making bremsstrahlung measurements resulted in data having a good combination of energy resolution and statistical accuracy. For232Th observed subthreshold (γ, f) cross-section resonances andvvalues suggest the existence of two separate shallow wells superimposed on the double humped fission barrier. For238U similar resonances between about 5.5 and 6.0 MeV cannot easily be interpreted in terms of the double humped fission barrier.

It was found that the mean total kinetic energy of two main fragments in triton accompanied fission is 1.7±0.2 MeV higher than that in LRA fission. In addition, the neutron emission probabilities for LRA, He-3, triton and proton accompanied fission of Cf-252 were measured.

For applied purposes it is useful to have neutron spectral information in a simple analytic form. Experimental spectra are approximated by Maxwellian expression, however the better agreement used to be achieved with a sum of Maxwellian distributions.
