摘要:
The winged stages ofRhithrogena diaphanaNavâs, 1917 are redescribed and drawn on the basis of fresh material collected not far from the type‐locality. The winged stages, the eggs and nymphs of three new species of thediaphana‐group are also described and illustrated:R. beskidensissp.n.,R. marcosisp.n. andR. savoiensissp.n. General remarks on the distribution and the biology are presented and the features distinguishing male adults and nymphs of these species from the other known species of thediaphana‐group are keyed.

摘要:
The Indian Pericomini, mainly Himalayan species from over 2000 m belonging toThornburghiella Vaillant, are briefly reviewed. It is suggested that the Himalaya provides conditions at intermediate altitudes that might be expected to favour continued survival of Gondwanian elements and that althoughThornburghiellais well‐represented in the Holarctic, the Himalayan species may be derived from the Gondwanian, not the Laurasian, fauna. The following new combinations are proposed:Thornburghiella spinicornis (Brunetti), T. mixta (Brunetti), T. singularis (Quate), T. alaeoensis (Kaul), T. hamtensis (Kaul), T. longipenis(Kaul). All exceptsingularisare placed in subgenusStupkaiellaVaillant, stat.n. KauFs threeThornburghiellaand alsoPericoma metatarsalisvar.khasiensisSenior‐White, possibly anotherThornburghiella, are described as having 5‐segmented palpi.

摘要:
Two new species ofMiroculisare described and new country records reported forMiroculis fittkauiSavage & Peters andMicrophlebia surinamensisSavage & Peters based upon male imagines from Cerro de la Neblina, Venezuela. Subgeneric placement of these two new species, one inMiroculis (Miroculis)and the other inMiroculis (Atroari)increases the known range of variation for various length, ratio and eye characters. Data on these characters are summarized for both subgenera, and a modified subgeneric key for male imagines is presented.

摘要:
Associated blackfly larvae ofSimulium argenteostriatum(Strobl) andProsimulium hirtipes(Fries) were collected in the Säntisthur, a mountain stream in the eastern part of the Swiss Alps. The overall body length, the head capsule length and the width were measured to assign the larvae to three size categories. In addition, some morphometric characters of the labral primary fans were analyzed: the fan areas, the ray numbers and the distances between these fan rays. Gut dissections showed that there were some differences in the size frequency distributions of ingested diatoms between both blackfly species. The overlap of these size frequency distributions varied between 0.39 and 0.77. Only low proportions between 0 and 4.6% of the ingested diatoms were equal in size or larger than the fan ray distances. Therefore it is assumed that the sieving mechanism of the extended fan rays is not very important for particle capture ‐in contrast to previousinvestigations of other larval blackfly associations.
