摘要:
An emergence trap was placed over a section of Six Mile Creek, a warm water stream which flows into Lake Erie and is located in Erie County, PA. Six families, 17 species, and 1782 specimens of caddisflies were collected over a three year period.Diplectrona modestaBanks, the most abundant species, has an extended emergence from late May to August‐September and may exist in two cohorts.Wormaldia moesta(Banks) was the next most abundant species; in the 1979 collection it was four times more abundant than during either of the previous two years. Two cohorts may also exist in this species, one emerging in spring, and the other in late summer.Neophylax concinnusMcLachlan, the third most abundant species, also revealed a dramatic increase in numbers the third year over the previous two years. This species always emerged during a period of four to six weeks in early autumn.Polycentropus elarusRoss, the next most abundant species, was quite synchronous in emergence in the last two years of the study.Dolophilodes distinctus (Walker) has shown a decline over the three year period with as many collected the first year as in the next two years combined. Four species of Rhyacophilidae were collected, all with increasing numbers each year.

摘要:
A description is given of the larva ofExeuthyplociaLestage, which closely resembles that ofAfroplociaLestage. On the basis of larval and adult characters and the apparent burrowing habits of the larvae, a new subfamily, Exeuthyplociinae, is proposed for the two African genera of Euthyplociidae.

摘要:
The Simuliidae described by J. W. Meigen are taxonomically revised after a study of his collection, descriptions and illustrations, and other relevant data. Of the 23 species names proposed by Meigen 11 are considered valid for currently recognized species and 12 are treated as synonyms. The revision necessitates only three changes to species nomenclature recently in use:Simulium argyreatumMeigen is shown to be misinterpreted by recent authors and to be a senior synonym ofS. rheophilum(Knoz);S. posticatumMeigen is brought into use as the valid senior synonym ofS. austeniEdwards; andHelodon rufus(Meigen) is considered to be a valid name supplantingH. ferrugineus(Wahlberg).Simulium noelleriFriederichs is restored as the valid name for the lake‐outlet species with 8‐filamented pupal gill, consequent upon the finding that the nameargyreatumhas been misapplied to this species. Lectotypes are designated for six of Meigen's nominal species based upon existing syntypes, and also forBoophthora erythrocephala(De Geer).
