摘要:
Stenopsyche kodaikanalensissp. n. is described from a small stream in the Palni Hills, Tamil Nadu, South India. All life stages and both sexes of adults are described and illustrated. The larva and pupa aresimilar toS.griseipennisand the adult male demonstrates a close relationship toS. splendidaof thesimplexgroup.

摘要:
Only 5, possibly 6, of the 47 species of Plecoptera known to occur on Tasmania and the 42 on the Australian mainland are common to the two areas. Three of these occur on King Island at the western end of Bass Strait, but only one on Flinders Island in the east where the strait is shallowest. Other species on the two islands are Tasmanian. The reasons for these distributions are discussed. It is suggested that the endemism can be explained by inhospitable conditions in the strait area during periods of lowered sea level in the Pleistocene, and that the western route is probably the one by which a few species did move. It seems to have been a difficult route, and one stonefly species became isolated on King Island for long enough to evolve a subspecies.

摘要:
During studies of the environmental effects of oil sands development in northeastern Alberta in 1976–1977, 36 species of Ephemeroptera and 21 of Plecoptera were collected using various techniques. Individuals of 18 mayflies and 17 stoneflies were taken in numbers sufficient to determine their basic life histories and habitat preferences. Among the mayflies, 8 (possibly 10) species exhibited fast seasonal development, 8 slow seasonal, and 2 non‐seasonal. Among the Plecoptera, these patterns were exhibited by 5, 7 and 5 species, respectively. Nymphs of most fast seasonal mayflies developed in pools and silty backwaters, often in association with aquatic macrophytes. Slow seasonal mayflies and most stoneflies were found in riffles, or on bedrock and debris in the Athabasca River. The fauna included a mixture of Eastern, northern and cordilleran species. Eastern species probably reached the Athabasca River drainage via glacial Lake Agassiz.

摘要:
Larvae and pupae ofHydroptila itoiKobayashi are described. Young larvae are free living without cases, final instar larvae make cases of filamentous algae and some sand particles. Larvae mainly feed by sucking the cell content of green filamentous algae. This species has an annual life cycle in Lake Utonai, Hokkaido, Japan, hibernating in the 2nd‐4th instar.

摘要:
Two new species of the genusHelodesLatreille from Greece are described:H. amiculasp. n. (continent) andH. secundocreticasp. n. (Crete). Their genealogical relations within theHelodes minutagroup are discussed and in this connection the position ofH. sieberiKlausnitzer, 1973 is explained. Additional species ofHelodesare recorded from Greece, includingH. pseudominutaKlausnitzer, 1971, which is new.
